Hi all,
I returned weary from a day of looking at tents yesterday, and whilst it was great to see them all pitched, I'm still a little bewildered as to what to choose.
Our requirements are:
Polycotton - Europe in the summer & I'm banking on "some" decent weather so polyester is a probable no.
7 man minimum. There are me & hubby, and three boys. So bedroom configuration is key.
Integrated porch - no faffing with adding on a separate.
Easy to pitch & pack.

My husband likes the look of the Outwell Phoenix 7atc as this seems to be the only tent that meets the above requirements. But I'm just not sold on the half pole/half air split. I just don't see the point, it's seems neither one thing nor another.
Can anyone re-assure me about pitching/packing times for the style of tent? Or, alternatively put me off it altogether so that we can rule it out?

What about the Vango Illusion TC 800xl... That's got to be an option.

i saw the 7ATC and its a nice tent - a few negatives tho - as you say - the half air /half pole - whats that all about? most folks want one or the other not a hybrid pole system. - i didnt like that either.
on the inner wall - theres a divider between the porch area and the living space. if its windy / chilly and you close the curtain - theres no plastic window so you wont be able to see out the front of your tent!. an odd design i thought and i didnt like that either.

the vango illusion is all airbeam and has a plastic window in the wall divider so you can close off the porch but still see out - much more sensible.

Kampa also had some tents of this size but their polycotton fabric was a light sane color which im not sure will soon show marks etc from camping and look grubby ...

i wasnt impressed at all by Outwells offerings this year - really think they are losing the way now and Vango have stepped right into their shoes with excellent products.

another company worth looking at if you can manage with a 6 berth design / size was the Zempire Aero txl in polycotton. very nice tent - a little unusual and different in design but looked a solid tent with good fabrics and construction.

the Vango is probably your safest bet ( 3yr guarantee too with them ).

Another vote here for the Illusion TC 800XL - that's what I have gone for. Really didn't like the hybrid system of the 7ATC and the layout is not as flexible as the Vango.

The only thing the Illusion TC hasn't got is a toggle in groundsheet for the front section (which is disappointing) but apart from that it ticked all my other boxes and have had a number of large pc air tents over the years.

I really like the look of the Illusion TC. I'm going back to the show on Saturday so looking forward to seeing it & having a good nosey round. Does the side porch have blinds on the windows? If so, I could save time & money on a new toiletvtent 🙊!

We would also say illusion tc 800
If the material is as good as our old Eden you'll be very impressed
Felt a lot better than the Outwell polycotton

Just a quick update to say we bought the Outwell Phoenix 7atc at the show.
We decided polycotton was a must & we didn't like the 4th bedroom in the lounge that the likes of Vango & Kampa were offering so the Phoenix was the only tent that fitted with our need for bedroom space.
Hope we've made the right decision! We're away in May to test it out so I'll post a review then.
We did see the Zempire Deltaforce... wow! What a beast of a tent... but way outside our price range!
