I've finally decided to splash out on what I class as a very expensive tent - the Outwell Nevada MP (2017). I ordered it from Taunton Leisure and received it next day as expected. The box didn't look like it had been opened, etc so thing they supplied exactly what I asked for.
I haven't put it up yet because it's been raining all day but I did open the packaging just to make sure everything was okay. Straight away I could see evidence of the groundsheet being patched so I got it out to inspect further in my living room (what a pain!).
It looks like the patch is roughly in the centre of the groundsheet but I won't know for sure without getting it unfolded properly in our garden.
There was also a weird hollow half metal ball thing knocking around at the bottom of the bag. Not sure what that's from.
FYI, I originally ordered the Nevada MP from a seller on eBay because it was boxed but was half the price! It was brand new and was actually better packaged than this one was. The pegs and poles were rolled into that tent whereas on this one the poles were loose at the bottom of the bag. The only issue with that tent was there had been stitching on the groundsheet that had been unpicked but hadn't been patched with tape. I therefore delivered back to the seller for a refund and got this full priced one instead. I therefore don't really want a tent that's been patched.
Hi, the link to the photo isn't working so can't see the patch you mention.
I own an outwell Nevada and Outwells are usually great quality tents - ours hasn't let us down. I can't think what the half metal ball could be - unless it's something that's dropped out of one of the poles?
From what you've described I'd definitely raise it with the shop before unpacking anymore - back up your call with an email / photos beforehand. Don't be afraid to ask for a replacement if youre still not happy - it's a lot of money to spend on something you are uncertain of.
let us know how you get on!

I've just spoken to Taunton Leisure and they are going away to investigate. So far they've been excellent to deal with so hopefully it'll be sorted soon.
A chap from Outwell has responded saying he thinks that square is a reinforcement patch under the bedroom area. I'm only going to know for sure by erecting it.
Has anyone on here got a Nevada MP tent with similar patches on?
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
Owned a few Outwell tents and this doesn't look like a repair, on certain models there are reinforced parts to the groundsheets I certainly wouldn't be worried about it.
We also had a Nevada and enjoyed using it, I'm sure once you have got it sorted you're going to love using it too.
Happy camping and welcome to the forum.
The bedroom pod has hooks to keep it in place, and if I remember rightly they do have reinforced patches underneath which look exactly like your photos.

That's exactly what Outwell thought that patch was. I did feel the other side of the tent and didn't notice and hook points but I'll have another feel tonight. I wish it would dry up outside so I can have a proper look.
Outwell didn't reply about that metal bit in the tent bag. Would like to know where that's come from.

The metal bit is a mystery
The hooking points are "D" rings, so being able to feel them while the tent is still folded would most likely not be possible.
My guess is there is absolutely nothing to worry about......except the weather!!!!

dont you think you should be putting up the tent in the rain - how do you know it doesnt leak? or you going to wait till you go away camping in it to find out?
a £9.95 tent from asda is fine on a dry day...as is any tent

Fair question. The problem is that we have a small garden with fake grass. It's just big enough to put the tent up but can't peg it down. We also have a young dog that will possibly claw at it (not taking him camping til he calms down).
I therefore can't leave the tent up and have nowhere to dry it. At some point I'll clear the garage but for now it'll be an on site test. If it leaks dramatically then there's always the car.
I have an outwell Nevada M, mine has reinforced patched areas, at key points. I wouldn't worry about the tent leaking. They have a high hydrostatic head. Really easy to erect. The brow over the door is the hardest bit with the pole. Fab tent
