There a nice, nearly new, blue, Bora bora for sale on EBay at the mo if you still fancied one Lidds?

Sorry mzzy, I missed this.

I've always liked the Bora Bora but, after our recent escapade with hordes of ruddy earwigs in the Ardeche, we reckon we really do need a bedroom inner and not just a curtain divider.

Anyhow, I prefer the colour of Hanka's tent to the blue of the latest Bora Bora...

its a very very simple tent to pitch Lidds - even single handed!
another reason i love it!

simply lay the tent on the ground and peg it out.
build the simple pole square frame to half leg height over the tent thats laying on the ground and pull the tent up and clip to the frame.

then pull the roof over the top of the frame.
then raise the legs and complete pegging.
its so simple you can do it with your eyes shut.

That's the way I've always been told it pitches, too. So, I'm surprised to see this pictorial pitching demo here. Looks like hard work to me (better stick with your way!)

I don't think the term "Tent Tart" does justice to Hankakampa's exploits anymore... This behaviour has now become positively slutty!

lidds - i NOW have a tent to suit each occasion!

i think

the Vango does not excite me... ( the brown color is positively sending me to sleep! ) - not in the way the Cabanon Bora Bora does - every time im inside the Bora Bora i just think - isnt this just the most lovely lovely little cute compact tent ever!. and for me it really is!. everything about the Bora Bora is a delight and pleasure from the Pure Cotton fabric throughout, to the colors, to the wonderful cotton canopy to sit under. theres nothing about the Bora Bora i dont like.

it takes a little more time, a little more work to put u the Bora Bora than the Karsten, about similar effort as the Solace but in a different way and about the same amount of time.

the Karsten is simple, immensley strong, beautifully made and timeless - the design has been around for about 40 years going right back to its infancy as the Europleasure igloo tent from where it takes its design cues. but its not an invigorating and exciting tent in the way the Bora Bora is. ( perhaps the color of it - a soft sea green - its very calming ).

the Solace is a nice comfortable tent - in 4 inflations, and some extra pegging over the Karsten, i have a tent i can stand up in all areas right to the very back of the bedrooms - no stooping. windows with zipped curtains all around. a little porch and a cute living space. but the brown color of the solace is its worst feature - iv never liked brown tents, but with it being small, i can over look it and fix the interior with bright colors of other things.

the Zempire TM is a quick easy up 3 room tent - easaier to pitch than the Solace, and being polyester, im okies with packing it up wet, throwing it into a plactic bin to take home and dry out.
i dont fancy doing that with wet cotton or polycotton as its very heavy when its wet..

and finally the little Vango 70Denier short life Capri 400xl ... its for going away with friends, a tent i dont need to worry too much if it gets damaged, muddy etc where id be going crazy over the others.

so iv stopped looking at tents...

but id love a Cabanon Biscaya 320 with optional rain canopy...

I don't understand the problem with the alleged lack of proper bedroom inners in the Bora Bora. In the photos it looks as if the bedrooms are proper inners

So is the red Bora Bora and matching canopy not produced any more?

I would save up for one next year if they still did them.

Watch out Hanka, and don't tell me where you are camping. It could be like that Sherlock Holmes goes camping joke, asking Watson in the middle of the night what he can deduce from the stars above. 'It means, my dear Watson, that someone has stolen our tent!'

lololol ... id better not leave the Bora Bora unattended - i may need pegs with padlocks lol

the Bora Bora does not have inners as such - it has a wall which comes down from the roof which has a zipped door and pockets on the living area side of the wall. at the floor level, the wall is not attached and can be moved inwards / outwards to a degree to allow beds of differing widths to be accomodated. so its a wall rather than a sealed bedroom on either side.

it works fine for me as i know that spiders and other bugs can still find their way in through zipped up bedrooms - theres always a gap somewhere they will find if they want in!. lol

this year the Bora Bora has been changed to a blue and grey colorway - the red / orange has been dropped - thats why i snapped this one up as soon as i heard about it.
the cabanon dealers in france may have a red one around though - may be worth calling around IF you really want one!. the dealer list is on their website!.

Oh, I see now, looking more closely at the second picture on the first page. It is a wall with a zipped door in it?

The red colour and red canopy is the best. Such a beautiful tent.

I think I will admire from afar: I will be struggling to fit my little Eldorado + tarp in the car, and heft it in and out, and the Bora Bora is twice the weight. Cashing in my pension to buy a new tent is one thing, but I can't justify a new car as well. ;)

Enjoy it and post lots of pics!

I suspect you meant to say you NOW have a tent to suit each day, don't you Hanks? Although, it wouldn't surprise me if you surpass yourself and aim for a tent an hour ownership situation...

Keeps me entertained, anyway (and so much less-expensive than buying them myself)!

Erm, excuse me but I've just noticed this teeny-weeny comment, tucked away at the end of your lengthy and informative post about your stable of canvas beauties...

They stopped making the 320 Biscaya some considerable time ago, so finding a good one won't be easy. The 320 has a very sloping bedroom pod, you know? But, it does have the deepest integral canopy of all the Biscaya range, bizarrely.

There's very little between pack sizes and pitching times of the 320 and the 370, so I've always felt the 370 is a better option (and hugely regret selling ours).

Cabanon only manufacture the 370 size Awaya now, which is a shame. If you haven't yet experienced the all-season polyester canvas from Cabanon, you'll find it's lighter, tougher than cotton canvas and really easy to care for.

It'll be interesting to see if you find one, and what you think to it.

there was a 320 sold the other day for £300 ... i did hum and haw, but as the happy owner of the latest Zempire Aero TM TC, i was happy to let it go to another undoubtedly very happy camper, plus, it didnt have the rain canopy - which to me is a must as its no longer available wnd could take a lifetime to source one if even at all possible!

Hanka, have you been looking for a Biscaya 320 for 2 YEARS?! 😁 That model's getting on a bit now.

You used your Bora Bora much?

What are your thoughts about the Bora Bora now, HK?
