I have just had it clarified today via an email from Outwell helpdesk that the proper percentage of cotton to polyester is 65% cotton 35 % polyester. This ratio applies to Outwells OUTTEX AIRTECH polycotton range of tents.
They said that the 35% cotton 65% polyester was a typing error. So if like me you own a Brown (mocha) coloured tent from the Newgate model range then you will be happy to know that it contains the same cotton content as the green coloured 2016 Newgate tents.

Going back a few years I have a feeling Outwell made both combinations. As I remember it, the Lakes green range (Bear, Wolf etc) was 65 cotton / 35 polyester and the Rivers brown range (Yukon, Hudson etc) was 35 / 65.

I always thought it to be interesting that Cabanon could not find a "PolyCotton" Canvas that could pass muster, despite what TentCate Solaire had to offer.
In the end they decided on a heavy duty "All Season Polyester" canvas for there commercial clients, which eventually found it's way into the consumer Biscaya range.
Of course for me, and Cabanon for that matter, the ultimate Canvas is still that of heavy 100% Cotton.
I agree, I have not had a chance to try my Newgate 5 polycotton tent yet. last summer I used a litchfield canvas frame tent and it was great. I also have a Cabanon Athena 6 berth (which I am selling) and a Relum biarritz canvas dome for short breaks, Love the real canvas but who knows I may become a polycotton convert.
having owned Polycotton in the past and now canvas, and having stayed in polyester tents before, I feel Polycotton is much closer to canvas than it is to polyester. Hopefully you will be happy with the fabric. It is certainly thinner and lighter, so does not have the same feeling of quality, but then it is lighter to lug about too.

Totally agree.
And that's based on our previous two polycottons being Kampa, so "only the lesser" 35% cotton/65% polyester.
Whilst I love my 100% cotton canvas tent, I'd have no qualms about using our polycotton tents again. Without wishing to appear rude, I really wouldn't fancy camping in a polyester tent again.

That's good news. Mind you, at the time the Outwell guy also quoted the ratio as 35% cotton, 65% polyester on the promotional video for the Newgate 3. I still want one these tents!! https://youtu.be/dXLBl_38BNg
Hi, it was in fact the very same Youtube video that drew my attention to the whole fabric issue, I guess the Outwell guy was just repeating what he had read (typing error) . Maybe Outwell should review the video and add an error message stating the true ratios.
