Hello!
First time poster and after some advice.
Looking forward to a week away camping in September - October, when the weather may be changeable so need a strong tent. I'll be pitching on a site, so weight isn't really an issue.
I've been drawn to the Coleman Kobuk Valley 3 man, due to the black out bedroom mainly, but it seems insanely cheap(£83 on Amazon as a Prime member!) compared to the Vango tents I've been looking at.
Seen the Vango Tempest 200 XD at a decent price, and also considered the standard Tempest 200 or 300, even the Nemesis.
So my question is, will the Vango tents be of a higher quality than the Coleman, and stand up to the weather better?
Thanks in advance.

I have had a couple of Coleman tents and found them both to be excellent. A friend of mine has just bought a Coleman Oak Canyon 4 which also has the blackout inner. I have not seen it yet but he is very pleased with it.
On the other hand I have seen a few Vangos and they are decent tents as well but if I had a choice I would go for a Coleman. Coleman seems to be designing some good tents these days and depending where you buy they can be quite reasonably priced.
That said, if you are camping on your own I wouldn't go for a dome style tent like the Coleman you have linked to, as some of them can be quite tricky to erect single handed. A tent with poles in line like a pram hood are much easier.
If weight isn't an issue, and certainly if you are camping for a week or more, I would go for a much larger tent and one you can stand up in...after a week crawling on your hands and knees you may need another holiday to get over it!
In my experience quality is pretty similar with both brands.
I have only owned one backpacking small Coleman tent and didn't like it but that is just my personal experience.I like to be able to sit up in a backpacking tent and quite a few you cannot do this. Its probably all about reducing weight?
I have had and still do own several Vango tents. I think you might find the likes of the tempest 200 does not have great headroom. Where as the Nemesis 200 has 105cm head room. The Nemesis 300 has the same head height but is a bit wider. The 200 and 300 have an entrance/porch each end.It is a brilliant tent in the worst of weather in my experience, as I own one.
The Vango Halo 200 or 300 is another strong tent but heavy for backpacking.
You didn't say if you are backpacking or car camping which will determine what weight of tent you buy.
I would agree with Bob, a two man tent generally is good for one person with their gear. A three man gives a bit more room for one.
