Can anyone give me some recommendations for a 3/4 berth tent which would be fairly easy for a small woman in her 70's to put up on her own. Obviously an airbeam model would be easiest but they are rather expensive. Any ideas anyone? It needs to be tall enough to stand up in.

Most tunnel tents are easily erected single handed.
You simply peg out the groundsheet, insert the poles then pull the entire tent into the vertical position in one go ready to peg the guylines into position.

Your own height and age isn't an issue. As Bernie said, if you buy a tunnel style tent with poles in line rather than crossing over or going in all directions, they are easy to erect.

Lay it down on the ground with the doors open. Thread the poles through the sleeves and pin the front pole so that it is in a curve on the ground. You can also pin the other poles at this stage so they are all lying on the ground curving toward the back of the tent, or just leave them hanging free in their sleeves.

Go to the front of the tent and take hold of the guy ropes that are attached to the top of the front pole. Pull the front pole upright with the guys and hold it upright by temporarily pegging the guys.

Then go along and pin the other poles one by one or if you have already pinned them while on the ground they should be standing almost upright as well.

Go to the back of the tent and grab the corners of the flysheet one at a time and pull the flysheet straight and taut. Then peg the base of the flysheet all round before pegging out the guys.

I am just coming up to 70 years old and 5'8" tall at a stretch. My tent is a 5 man but only has 3 poles. I find the metal poled tents easier to erect and are more stable than fibreglass poled tents but it's personal choice.

Hi. What’s your maximum budget?

We have a kampa brean air. Brilliant tent and so easy to put up on your own. Cost approx £400

If too much look at the airgo models in go outdoors.

The Cabanon Guadeloupe or Barbados would be my tent of choice, in your situation. They really are easy to solo-pitch.

With the Guadeloupe being the lighter of the two, I'd go for that one.

Single pole ? Bell type tents from the Robens Fairbanks to 3 metre or bigger bell tents as you wish from several suppliers: if you want lighter weight, several designs are available in nylon.
Also...depending on your size requirements, Slumit Flashframe tents may be of interest? Keenly priced and very simple to pitch....

My issue, as a maturing woman, is the weight of the tent. Airbeams are quite heavy, aren't they? I can get my Eldorado in and out of the boot if I take the Poles out of the bag.

I love my Vango Kalu . Total doddle to put up by myself, has the best of both worlds: stability of a steel pole and then fibre pole struts. Really clever design. Can't think why they discontinued it!

If you want a 3 berth for you, what about the Hi Gear Aurora 3? Or even better looking, I think, the Outwell Rockwell 3?
