Hi Davina,

We have a Berghaus Air 6 Inflatable Tent, I haven’t seen too many reviews around, here is my experience with it so far...

The deciding factor in getting an Air tent was the 3 hours of huffing, puffing and trying not to swear too loud in front of a four year old trying to put up a 8 man conventional tent on my own, I felt like my back had snapped, I swear it was almost an hour before I could stand up straight and I was never going camping again!!!

The Air 6 came from a work colleague at a very reasonable price, used twice with hardly a speck of dirt on it. We have used it only twice, the first time for a two nighter then a second one night. Before the first outing I did a quick pitch in the Garden, so I had a practice run. I’d watched quite a few videos on YouTube pitching inflatable tents and pretty much all of the videos relating to the Berghaus Air range.
On arrival at the site and deciding where to pitch, using the methods I’d researched everything was going well, however on a few of the Beams, once I detached the pump they would go down, after some minor grumbling I realised that the valve pin in the beam was in its open position, once my error was corrected everything else went well, in fact from the time to laying out the tent to the other half getting everything else out the car and the kettle going on was about an hour, pretty good for its first outing I thought.

On the second night of this trip the weather took a turn for the worse, high winds, torrential rain and a massive thunderstorm. I lay awake worried that we would end up at the bottom of the field before morning, the beams rocked but stayed firm. At first light I was up checking everything, other than a few guys that needed tightening, we had survived unscathed.
Taking down the tent was a simple process, open doors and deflate each beam by pressing the valve pin, you can use the pump to remove air from the beams but we just left it to deflate on its own while we packed the car, having the four year old doing barrel rolls over it and sitting on the rolled up tent every so often also helped. I highly recommend watching some inflatable tent folding videos to give you some idea of how to pack it effectively.

Our second trip was just an overnighter, just me and my partner, again the tent went up easily, valve pins all in their correct position before I started inflating. This time the kettle was on before I finished the guy ropes, granted we didn’t take as much stuff but still, a little more experience makes the erecting process quicker.
On this occasion I managed to separate the stitching from the fly sheet to the zip of the door with the canopy, I suspect the pole that holds it up was not quite in the right place causing it to be too tight, it was purely my fault, I should have checked it when the zip became difficult to move but it was dark and we were about to settle down for the night. I haven’t fixed this damage yet (a job for the spring inflation and check), before the next outing we’re getting an Air Porch and that is better fitted over the other door meaning this one won’t have regular usage.

All the videos and advice I had read said to peg out each of the four corners before inflation but the Air 6 narrows from the end beam to the end of the bedrooms so I think on our next camp I’m going to peg out the four corners at the bottom of the end beams first.

All in all I’m very happy with the Air 6 and can’t wait to be camping more with it this year!
I hope my experiences help you, if there’s anything specific you would like to ask, please don’t hesitate.
