I'd be very glad to have the benefit of the forum's collective wisdom about the best sources of custom made groundsheets and also what kind of material would be best.

We need one that is a very specific size (5.4m x 2.3m) to go under an existing groundsheet for a Quechua Base Seconds 4.2 tent (http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/tents/p/Quechua-Base-Seconds-4.2/972) - for protection and because the tent's own groundsheet is becoming increasing worn & thin.

All advice & recommendations gratefully received!

Many thanks

A groundsheet that goes under the tent's groundsheet is referred to as a 'footprint' and should be slightly smaller all round than the tent's groundsheet. If it sticks out beyond the flysheet water will drip onto it and run back underneath between the two groundsheets causing a puddle which rather defeats the object.

Many people use a tarpaulin bought from a builders merchants and cut to size. Most waterproof tarpaulins can be cut without fraying so there is no need to hem them once cut to fit. I use one that has been cut twice for different sized tents and it is still in good condition.

I have done a quick search online and cannot find a specific footprint or a replacement groundsheet for your tent so you may have to buy a tarpaulin and cut it to fit as suggested.

Thanks for your advice, Bob - much appreciated.

I did, of course, mean a footprint!

Look here 5.4 x 3.5. You will only need to cut one side.

...or you could just fold the side that is too long and maybe stick it with tape.
