Hi Im trying to purchase a 7m Quad Bell tent.
The only company i can find that has them in stock is boutiquecamping!
A called to ask some questions I was in formed that if I left the tent up over the summer so 6-8 weeks I would need to reproof it every 4-6 weeks. they are only designed for occasional use?!?!?
I have spoken to another company that told me there should be no need to do this unless there was torrential rain for a fortnight!! its yearly job at most and the tent would be fine erected for the summer but obviously may fade!
Also that they are Hell in 25mph wind and poles break?!?! and knowledge re the re-proofing/wind?? MANY THANKS x
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
This is much about proofing and leaving cotton? tents erected, that I won't go into here, it's too subjective I feel.
However, I would have thought any half decent bell tent would have no worries with that sort of wind speed if properly set up? Although I don't know that particular (Quad 7 metre) tent..........
Again, pegs may be more important, dependant on surface to be pitched on?
Have a look at Dutch Pyramid type tents. A bit like a Bell but with wind shedding properties. The Dutch call them storm tents. My Hypercamp Alaska has stayed up in Gale force winds.

I've also heard stories of central poles breaking. I've certainly seen mine flexing alarmingly in the wind. If you're concerned, take a couple of sections of tarp pole (or even a spare tent pole for the bell although that's probably overkill) and tape it to the main pole in high winds. It seems to work and I've not had a pole break yet.
