Hi All
Newbie here and am after a little advise please
We're looking at the above air tents , thought we'd settled on the Airgo Horizon 600 or the Vango Capri , however have just seen a review which says be careful with this style of open porch due to winds so now considering an Airbeam Icarus 500
There will be 4 of us (2 adults 1 x 18 if he decides to come & an 11 year old , occasionally the dog !)
Would be grateful for your thoughts please
Such a lot of money dont want to get it wrong
Thanks so much for any help you can offer
Lou :-)

First of all where do you live as it sounds like you have only visited Go Outdoors. There maybe a proper camping store (independent store) not to far away where you will see a better range and get some good solid advise. We have a huge display and we have the capri on show, with better pegs than the tent is supplied with the open front isn't an issue at all so don't worry about that.

Hi. Based purely on the fact airgo ( Go outdoors ) don’t and can’t supply replacement air beams I wouldn’t buy one. I’ve had a Vango air awning and it was the best I’ve ever had.
We have the Capri 600XL and have never had an issue with the front canopy porch in windy conditions. Also used better pegs than those supplied with the tent.
The side door and the front door offers a choice of entry if the wind and rain is on one side more than the other - if that makes sense.
'checkly1973' makes a good point on availability of spares - just in case.

Hi Gary,
I'm in a similar postion to the op but I've been looking at the Vango Amalfi 500, do you have any thoughts on this tent? OP have you looked at the Amalfi range they do a 500 and 600, also a nice tarp for them. These do have a smaller sized living area though, i'm just looking for a mostly weekend tent.
Hi All
Thanks for your messages , its much appreciated.
We're in Colchester,Essex so have now visited a stockist of mainly Kampa
So now we have the Kampa Paloma 6 (£675 incl carpet , footprint & canopy) in the mix along with the Vango Capri 600 (prefer the Kampa price though but cant find any reviews!)
Didnt realise that about the Airgo so that's out as I'm so clumsy ! Husband isnt keen on Icarus now so we're back to 2 but not the original 2 lol
Oohh just spotted the Berghaus Air arrrggghhh .............
Trakker 1 I love the Amalfi and stock both, yes it hasn't got the big living area of the Capri XL range or the big canopy of the Capri xl range but we stocked it because we felt there are lots of people out there who want a super fast pitching tent without the sloping front and to use it for long weekend camping or for camper who just use it as a base and spend very little time on the Campsite. We have the 500 on show and it's been very popular.
Squiggles mum, you are spoilt with good independent camping stores where you are, we are not a million miles away either. You may find in a good shop you will spend less or more but you will spend once and not waste your money because you will be steered towards a tent that suit and works for you. I bet in a national chain shop they never ask "how many people are in your family... What sex are the children, how old are they, what sort of camping are you thinking you will be doing etc" Now this isn't because we are all stoker's , it's because we truly want you to buy the right product for your you.
So yes the Kampa or the Capri will do the job well, I like a more squared off shape the the frame so you get more volume in the tent but you've done the right thing by getting out there and seeing the tents in the flesh...

Hi All
Thanks for your messages & encouragement to venture past the corporate Go Outdoors
We have now bagged ourselves a bargain on the Kampa Hayling Air 6 with footprint & carpet and can't wait to get out in it
