For various reasons(I know--I married her)I havent managed to get camping this year yet and to suppress my withdrawal symptoms I resort to reading this forum and generally looking at pictures of tents--often wondering if there was a way in which I could camp (with a bit of space and comfort)by myself? My main tent-an Alaska-is a bit over the top for just me to camp for a night or two..And I dont fancy something the size of a coffin as I do not yomp up mountains these days(since buying the helicopter.).I do have a couple of small Vangos-but they take at least 5 minutes to erect and I cant wait that long!
So --in my quest to find a solution I happened across the Slumit website--did some research--read the few available reviews and without warning an e-mail popped up informing me of the despatch of a Slumit Grizzly 4!!! All my details were correct-- including the note to the delivery company about it probably being best to deliver to a neighbour.
Apparently these tents are very quick to erect and can easily be put up by one person-- this particular one would have plenty of space for me and an occasional partner..should she lower herself(keeps mentioning the C word..ends with N).
It sounds exactly the sort of thing I was considering...its not the first time this has happened either.Strange.So a parcel is on its way as we speak and its too late to do anything about it now--may as well try it out at the lakes next weekend and submit a review.Something useful instead of my usual banging on about nowt.

Strange how these things happen. There I was, looking on ebay on the pretext of helping my daughter choose a tent, when suddenly I've won an auction; in my case for a Coleman Phad 3 (terrible name, but a nice tent at a good price).

Postman came bearing a package from Plymouth today, so up the garden for me too!

P.S. - my daughter bought a Wild Country Aspect 3, so she's happy too!

Oh dear, it's contagious!! I've been looking for a tow car (yes a tow car for our caravan!) for the last couple of weeks and a Coleman chimney rock 3 plus tent arrived yesterday.

I'm blaming my midlife crisis........

Of course I just had to Google this new tent of yours. Then I positively had to restrain my fingers from clicking (much easier to carry than the outwell pop up fusion tent for my grandson when he comes with us) but as we are in the process of "de-tenting" - our old outwell wolf lake going to a better home today... if I buy another one my hubby will no doubt find some way of clicking on "go.mental.co.uk"!

An impressive photo of one after a blizzard in the tent review!

My only minor grumble is that there is not full mosquito netting to the inner door; that would have been nice; but otherwise I really like it; I get the feeling that it will be a good all rounder.

It was unusual how I bought it though; it was 'collection only' from Plymouth, and I live in Orkney. It was well worth messaging the seller to ask whether they would post at my expense; they were very helpful and there were no other bidders.

Im pleased its not just me this happens to!! I thought Superbbird was going to say somebody had sent a rangerover after browsing them...That would be hard to hide.At least with a tent you can splash some mud on the carry-bag and claim you have had it for ages(Top tip

)
So I did get away for a night to try out my new tent(which must have been sent"on approval"?) I think I might keep it!Easy to handle for 1 or 2 people.It didnt get a weather test but i shall stick a review on anyway.
However--en route to the lakes I had to pass a large camping retail store and feeling re-energised by my new purchase(the feeling you can only get from receiving a new tent)-I popped in--just for a look

to see if they sold anything which could be of use to a single camper? They did!! I dont know how Ive survived all these years without an Oex Meru cookset AND it was on special offer

Feeling slightly guilty about my recent extravagence--Mrs Mitch has been harping on about a new toilet seat for months--I wondered what it would take to balance things out and so continue on my travels without any hint of guilt.I found the solution to my dilemna back in the camping shop---GENIUS!!! A new wind-up electric hook-up with USB sockets for charging her phone.
Thats next weekend camping sorted--imagine camping and being able to charge your phone up six times a day.
Another Top Tip I would say! You may even persuade reluctant teenagers to move away from their bedroom with one of these
