The Bravo BP12 is well built and effective. At the risk of jinxing it, ours has done tent and awning on 27 trips over three years so far. There were some reports of the piston melting when used to inflate RIBs, but I think tents are relatively light work for it. The automatic cut off when it gets to the selected pressure is a must-have feature.

Hello Tim, thank you for your suggestion. I was hoping for a cheaper option, but I guess you get what you pay for.
I will be using my Kampa Gale this weekend for the first time, this came reccomend on here after I was using an old sevylor 12v pump I already had.
First impressions are good on the build quality of the kampa v sevylor...will put a small review early next week.

They did some redesign to resolve these issues. All reports now are that its a really reliable pump. I've only just got mine but will be using it for Tent and Stand up Paddle boards and think the fact its portable and uses an external battery and is quicker than many other pumps that plug into cigarette lighter make it a winner in my book.

The Bravo BP 12 clips to your car battery or a spare 12v 7.2ah small battery. It is the fasted pump about and comes with a ring of size adaptors so will either fit straight into the tent valve or you can take of the end fitting from the manual pump and fit that to the Bravo BP12 pump. The ravo takes about 30 to 40sec per beam. You can inflate your tent 3 to 4 times easily with a 7.2ah battery. https://www.inflatabletentsonline.co.uk/vango-inflatable-tent-accessories/-bravo-b........

The Kampa Gale takes about 45 to 60 sec per beam. It plugs into your cars 12v system. It has a long lead. You can also buy as mentioned above an adaptor with two crocodile clips and a 12v socket and attach it to the battery I mentioned above. The Gale comes with many end fitting to inflate your tent but again you can take the fitting of the manual pump and put that on the end of the Gale pipe. I also have the Kampa Gale and really like it.
Gary can you confirm it will work with that battery? I've struggled to get a definitive answer out of Kampa but they agree with my calculation that as it is a 9+ amp draw (110 watts divided by 12 volts = 9.1 amps) so would this not need a larger capacity battery?
Also important to let people know that if they make their own lead (or buy one) that the cigarette socket needs to be of an adequate capacity. Many of those commercially for sale are only 5 amp which would not be adequate.

All I can say is we made a video where we used a simple crocodile clip adaptor and it worked fine. Also the Bravo pump works really well and is well proven with just a 7.2ah battery and that draws way more amps. So I see no reason why the Gale wouldn't work from a 7.2ah battery. After saying all this I would imagine with the length of the lead 99% of campers will just use their car 12v socket. https://youtu.be/stnZLCCx_iI
