This year we bought Kampa Watergate 6 tent and used it for the first time in the summer. Already a day after the set-up we noticed tears on the mesh entrance door. I assume that this was caused by too much tension produced by the pole, which shapes roof over the entrance (in case I removed this particular pole there was no particular tension). I contacted the tent producer, which replied that the damage is result of incorrect use. However, I disagree with them since instructions were followed completely and weather was fine, but never mind.
I would like to ask if somebody else also experienced the same problem with this type of the tent? How have you repaired the net?
HI; sorry to hear this. BTW your photo is not showing up.
With a new tent like this I would first of all persist with the retailer and the manufacturer as it seems that the tent was not fit for purpose if this happened in the course of normal usage. Don't take their first answer, your consumer rights give you some protection and being assertive and standing your ground can show that you mean business.
That mesh hasn't got enough side seam coverage. Has the door panel also split? If not then, how can it be incorrect use? If your pitching had caused too much tension, they'd both have suffered the same damage.
My question is: what's the orange stuff on your side door pole?! Looks like something has shredded? Is that part of the tent, too?!
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
I have just returned a Kampa Studland Air Pro after numerous problems over the summer especially with seams on the bedroom pod. I documented everything and persisted with the retailer that the tent was not fit for purpose. After two further replacement tents and having just the bedrooms swapped I got a full refund despite having used the tent(s)over the summer and having made the initial purchase five months previously. I purchased a new tent, Outwell with poles, from a different retailer and told him about my previous experience. He replied that he had heard that Kampa had stopped all returns to their UK centre as they are currently swamped with returned faulty tents!
at Hacksaw Bob: Thanks for posting the link for image - I didn't manage by myself despite a few attempts.
at lidds0: The orange stuff is pine needles (since I decreased size of the photo substantially, it is not so easily visible.).
Except the described fault, the tent is ok. I will try to present again my standpoint to the producer.
