Depends on how old your children are.....
If they are older go for an 8 man vis a vis (opens in the middle ) if they are young young go for a tunnel tent (ie opens at one end )
Not all 8 man's are huge but kids grow up - if I were you I'd buy an 8 man . For longer holidays we have an 8 man for the three of us !!!! For weekends we have a 5 man.
Go on you tube and watch some 8 man erections - you'll see its not so difficult .

I don't think you tube hosts those sort of videos.
Yeah. An 8 man tent does not need to be huge. There are some good vis a vis 8 man tents out there that will give you the space and privacy you need. Get one with black out inners to aid sleep and avoid early morning wake up. Something like the Vango Stanford or longleat are easy to put up being tunnel type hooped vis a vis.

Also look at the hi gear kalahari 8 from go outdoors . I'd avoid the vango longleat it'll charge you eighty quid to drive round it and the monkeys will pull the wipers off your car before it charges you a tenner for a crappy burger :-)
If budget allows, the Cabanon Biscaya 440 and front canopy is a super tent for a family of five, having one huge bedroom inner with 2 dividing curtains which can be rolled up or toggled down, as required.
They last forever if properly cared for so don't be worried about buying used, so long as you can give it a bit of a check-over.
