Personally, in bad weather the "flap" of a nylon gets right on my ****, especially in larger family tents and adjusting guy ropes does very little depending on wind direction etc.
On such smaller tents however, there is little in it.
Nylon of course dries quicker/easier which can be a bonus on your travels as less water equals less weight.
