Coming back to camping after a few years of having a folding camper. Just wondered what the majority use to transport all of there camping parafenalia? Is it roof box or trailer or both?

Currently using a large roof box and trailer, looking to get a bigger trailer this year so I don't need to the roof box, though also considering a mid size trailer and with the roof box on top for the light stuff like mats, sleeping bags, clothes etc.

If you buy a big enough trailer, you shouldn't need a roof box. I extended my existing trailer last year as the cheapest option ~ £150 but have now decided that more space will make it easier. Especially when packing up as I have to put the tent in first then pack around it. With a bigger trailer, I can be packed up, then just add the tent once it's packed.

How many of you are there?
All of our gear fits in the car again now with the two of us. We have used a roof box in the past with three and may do again if we downsize the car.
If you need a trailer you might as well go back to a folding camper/trailer tent, surely?

Estate car and a roof box if the whole family goes. If just the two of us, back seats down.
Honestly couldn't do it with a saloon unless a trailer was involved.

We manage just fine for a weekend with just a 7 seater MPV for two people. Admittedly, we still need a 390L roof box for a week or more... and the whole lot is rammed to the rafters!

Roof box and trailer has worked well for us since 2008.

So many folk buy a trailer that turns out to be to small, so watch out for that when buying.

Accordingly, use a rucksack, a car, a motorbike, but mostly a canoe......

I can get 3 people, 2 tents, Icey Tek (my next biggest item) and all gubbins in a Skoda Roomster with no roof box or trailer!
