I’m probably going to sound like a bit of a numpty with this question! In my defence I am taking my 2 year old camping in June so I want to avoid any misunderstanding/mishaps with my new tent!

I have the Icarus 500 and should be able to put it up by myself (am having a practice run before we go). However, I’m slightly confused by the bedrooms. Have seen on various forums that you can put the bedrooms up and then leave them in for future.... unless I have completely misunderstood! The instructions are just pictures and don’t seem to suggest that.... again unless I have misunderstood those 🤣

What do other people do with theirs? As I said I’m having a practise run before we go, so I will probably be able to work it out. But anything that will minimise pitching and taking down with just me and a toddler will obviously be very helpful!

The inner tent is very light so once you have hung it inside it can remain there. Some tents come with the inner already hung inside. I disconnect the clips holding the inner to the groundsheet when I pack away the tent as I feel that takes some of the strain off and it only takes a minute or two to reconnect them the next time the tent is used.

This of course can only be done with tents with sewn in groundsheets. If a tent has a loose groundsheet then the inner has to be re-hung every time.

Had the Vango Iris v 500 which is pretty much the same tent, always left the inner in.

Leave the bedroom doors unzipped and also the main doors. This makes the tent easier to fold: less trapped air.

But when you get it out to pitch again, zip the main doors before pegging out your guys.

Good advice but also when rolling up the tent roll from back to front as this will force all the air out of the front door. You will also know which end is the front when you unroll it the next time you camp.

Next tip: if you do leave the inners in take extra care to remove your car keys / phone etc from the pocket inside the inner tent.

It is so much more tiresome to have to unfold the entire tent.
