Having had success with our small airgo horizon, decided to upsize a little (or downsize from our Gelert Corvus!) and bought a Kampa Kielder Air Pro 5. We took it to Fforest Fields last week and were very impressed, perfect size for us now and never even moved in 30mph gusts. Sold the baby tent and now thinking of selling the monster.

With regards to large bag size, our kielder is about the same size as the Corvus, without the poles which are in a separate bag.

Would add, highly recommend Atwoolls video on youtube for packing an air tent away. Never have any of our tents gone back in the bag so easily and with room to spare, so thank you for that Atwoolls!

Having had several air tents from vango, sunncamp, hi gear, I couldn't go
back to poles, just purchased a vango inspire 600xl, was looking forward to 1st pitch this weekend, but the weather has stopped that little outing
Vango have always been great, no bother
Sunncamp was ok, no mesh on doors
Hi gear airgo went up ok but both leaked.

After many years with poles, we changed to an airbeam, Kampa Croyde Classic 6 berth, the Studland is the larger. It withstood 45mph winds, one beam bounced in once and out again, we had it for 4yrs and couldn't fault it.

Yes the bag is huge and so is the weight, but if you have the room in your vehicle and home go for it. It's just one roundish bag, no extra bag of poles and stuff. we also had an electric pump too.

Because of OH illness and mobility probs we have moved to a caravan, but I'd still be in our tent if he was able to.

Hi Duffs,
How are you caravanning trips going so far? We have been out only once so far this spring (last weekend, cold, wet and windy...thank goodness for heating!!)

Would love to hear from you to compare notes :-)

Hi jacfrosty
Not done much, malc broke his wrist in Jan and it was a long slow recovery, he finally got signed off a month ago, I got pneumonia in Feb so we pretty much didn't do anything until the week before Easter, went away for 4 nights to a campsite behind a pub in Fakenham. We needed help getting things to work, because everyone said how easy it was ,just switch stuff on, but no one explained you need to turn all the fuses on first , But as with camping we had lots of help on site, plus I'm in a Bessacar FB group who are also invaluable.

All went well, I went on a manoever caravan course, so I was able to reverse it in to our plot.

We are off again on the 21st doing a 3 location stay visiting family in Somerset and Devon, then for 5 nights in the New Forest Poss.

It must of been very nice with all the rain to retreat inside with heating, although we had no rain it was chilly and our heating was on, we used our shower too, easier for malc. I'm desperate to go more, but as I'm childminding Grandkids , school runs etc its not as easy. But we can stay on the site attached to our storage, we have done that a couple of times. we have also bought an air awning, with our dog it makes it easier if it's wet etc. haven't used it for a holiday yet only on the storage site.

Here's to getting out more for both of us, have you booked anything else? x

WE made the transition to Air Tents in 2016, purchasing the then Vango Edoras 500XL, which we use as our main holiday tent providing oodles of space for just two of us. As it only gets used for two weeks each year, and we bought the roof liner to extend the life of the roof fabric, it is still in excellent condition and should give us a few more years of use.

In 2017 we bought a Kampa Brean 4 air tent as a weekender/short break tent but last year sold that and replaced with a Vango Capri 400XL airbeam.

Must say I love the airbeams and they are exceptionally stable in windy conditions.

I would have no hesitation recommending, especially as the beam and valve technology is so much better than the first models.
