Recommendations/comments required. We currently have a Raclet Solena trailer tent. We are “more mature” campers and both suffer with arthritis, and OH has had some major back surgery. However we are still pretty fit and can manage setting up ok. We just find it takes a lot of effort and faff setting up awning etc. and I now do all the towing which I am not too keen on. We are seriously considering returning to tent camping and after much research fancy a Vango Solace TC400 as it has a large sleeping area which will accommodate our two comfy fishing bed/chairs, a good size living area and a built in porch area ideal for the kitchen paraphernalia. Question is does anyone own one and can they advise how easy it to handle. It is a big tent and we are aware that it weighs 35kg. Thoughts please.

Thanks. I have done that but wanted to ask for personal experience. Videos make it look easy. Was wanting to find out about hoe heavy and awkward it might be to manhandle.
we too are looking at air tents. We are mature campers with the usual physical problems that come with getting on in years!
What we did was to visit a camping showroom and ask to see the bagged-up tents. My husband then lifted the bags to see which one he could handle fairly easily. Anything up to 25 kg was OK but the problem is that, with a conventional tent, you can separate out the poles and have two bags. You can't do that with an air tent - it's one big bag. Then you have to lift that into your car boot, and often in the strong sun so it's a bit of a struggle with a heavy bag. That helped us make our decision - we look first at the weight, then consider the actual tent. Outwell and Vango have air tents that meet our criteria, and are between 17kg and 25kg

Thanks Beenie that is helpful. There is a camping exhibition opening near us this weekend and we will pop along and have a recce. We also prefer either Vango or Outwell (always had Outwell before) so will look at those and ask if we can try setting on up and taking down again. Though I have seen a Kampa that only weighs 16 kg and looks like it could meet our criteria. We prefer polycotton but I guess we will have to rethink that because of the weight.
