Hi, not strictly camping tent advice, but wondered if anyone can help. I need a 3m x 3m sturdy tent or gazebo with sides with standing height room, as I am a massage therapist and am going to be working at a festival. I want something that will be strong and withstand wind and rain if necessary, and will last me for years to come for future festival work. It would be good if it looks the part, looks nice. Canvas looks great, but realise this will push the price up quite a lot. Any recommendations or advice on what to steer clear of will be very much appreciated. Many thanks

Hello Keith...I dont think there is such a thing as a "sturdy" gazebo to be had for camper-friendly prices! You will be relying on your shelter for your business and will be expecting a decent life-span from it and that wont come cheap--have a look at professional marquee hire companies to get an idea of the prices you would be paying to buy something of good quality. Good stability comes from good poles which are of a different size and weight from usual camping equipment--very heavy! We use a good quality gazebo when camping which is well anchored and tied down--however we still drop it when the weather turns bad.The material used is not up to stormproof standards and definitely not waterproof.
Have a look at a Robens Prospector tent or similiar.This could work for you and would certainly attract attention to your cause! Blacks of Greenock would be a good place to look..makers of scout tents etc All heavy duty stuff and a well respected maker.

What about an event shelter?

Coleman do a wide range of sizes and in different fabrics (some are just shelters from sun and wind, others have proper waterproof fabrics) and you can purchase removable sides separately

If you want it to be properly waterproof you will need to pay more and ideally you should be looking at one with a Hydrostatic Head (HH) of 3000HH minimum.

Other manufacturers also do Event Shelters (Royal for example) but not all will have or supply sides.

I don't know what your budget is but Kampa do an air event shelter (uses inflatable tubes instead of poles) so easy to erect single handed.It also comes with side walls and has a waterproofing of 6000HH. What about getting a bell tent? That would look the part at a festival, and would give you standing height in the middle. I have a feeling you can roll the sides up kn some of them if the weather is good, but I am no expert.
