Help. I need advice to stop me from pulling my hair out as I cannot decide what to do.

I have a wife and two children (2 & 4).  We want to buy a tent or trailer tent as our tiny tent is not big enough.

The problem is which one do we choose?

If anyone can give us some advice on why we should pick one above the other please do so or any problems we may find.

We hope to hear from someone.

Thanks.

Do you have a towbar?

Sorry, not very helpful, you should probably go and look at some of each first.

There is a huge price variation between tents and trailer tents so perhaps price could be a starting point. Also storage. A tent can fit under the stairs or in the loft or a cupboard but a trailer tent could not. My friend had her TT pinched off her drive and unfortunately she was not covered by insurance. Two years ago we purchased a tent and trailer and had a tow bar fitted but could not have afforded a TT. Hope this helps.

i agree with Freddie, also depends on how confident you are with towing a trailer there's no way we could have afforded a trailer tent but we could manage to a frame tent and are completely happy with it see pics in our profile the living are in ours is a massive 450cm by 310 cm (and is rectangular same goes for a trailor tent) unlike some of the dome tents that are an irregular shape and the sizes mentioned are at there longest and widest

Our first camping experiences were in a second hand trailer tent, easy to tow, spacious, but it was quite a task to erect, and storage was a problem. we sold that and bought a tunnel tent, and have now  just 'upgraded' to a dome tent. We have found that the tents are much easier and quicker to put up, sewn in groundsheet; so nice and warm, and just as spacious. So we wouldn't go back to a trailer tent now.

Hi Alex23.

We had this dilemia bck in jan when we decided that we wanted to start camping. our kids are 2 and 4 also. We looked around for ages and decided to go for a dome tent. we have the diablo 600 and its great. lots of inside space and a lovley prch for cooking ect too. our neighbours have a t/tent and theyve only used it twice in 2yrs, when i asked them why he said it was too much hassel to put up ( not a true camper i can here you all saying!!)

Im obviously bias but i would go for a tent anytime!! hope this helps

If money or storage is not a problem you could consider a folding camper. A friend of mine used to have a TT then a caravan and now has a foling camper. She says it's very quick to errect and they are really pleased with it. Someone on that section may be able to give u more info.

Margaret
