Hi I am looking for a 4 man tent with a porch for me and two kids. bought an outwell but it was terrible (and I had thought it was a reputable brand and we have an older, big outwell that is great). got a refund and looking for a new one.

have had a vango ark that was good for about 3 yrs approx 4 trips a year but it leaked, or rather seeped in despite weatherproofing. but overall was ok for money vs use, but the vango beta that seems similar seems to have reviews mentioning leaking from the offset on this website.

ive seen a high peak mesos 4 tent that looks the job, but I can't find any reviews. can anyone help?

I don't know those tents, so am probably no help: but for a compact ...ish tent with a porch for you and two children, there's the Robens Fairbanks, or a bigger option maybe a small (2nd hand?) Dutch pyramid style tent, all of which there are examples reviewed on this website in the "reviews" section............?

AS far as pyramid tents go, there is one at the very top of the review listings of a suitable size?
There are several manufacturers if you want new (the ESVO Vervat is only available 2nd hand) such as Cabanon, Obelink, who make very similar style tents with detailed variations...................

A "left field" thought, a bit of an enthusiasts tent as they can be expensive, could be "Baker" style tent? Some even make their own versions of these.

There are many tents in polyester that may fill your brief, but I freely admit, save weight saving, I tend to favour cotton/polycotton over polyester tents.

Most importantly the more you spend the better you get as a general rule. It's like life. even with a good hydraulic head a cheap tent may have poor seams. And sales are always on (until lockdown ends I suspect!!).
Check the internal height suits and be aware of how a porch works in terms of rain when it's open on a warm damp day.
I'd normally say go and look before you buy but in lockdown PLUS that if holidays abroad are not permitted this year demand will rocket for camping kit, I'd check out a youtube video of any tent you are considering.
You dont need to go all out for polycotton or cotton tent - if you can afford it, brilliant, but if not, a reasonable spend will get you a decent polyester tent.
Also, think about your actual needs - the mesos wouldnt suit us as we like privacy from the offspring (!!!) but it might be perfect for you.
