Find a camping store with tents set up on display.
Your are allowed to crawl into the tents and lie down.
The cheaper brightly coloured Vango tents don't have extended flysheets for storage and emergency bad weather cooking.
I've cycle camped from Cherbourg to St Malo using a Vango Soul 200. Nothing wrong with the tent but a bit cramped for me and 2 weeks worth of kit.
If your not actually hiking or cycling get a bigger tent for a standing camp.
The gothic poled vango tents will give you extra height for the same width, remember that some of the published width of classic arched tunnel and dome tents is unusably low due to the shape of the arch.
Have a look at Eurohike Avon on eBay....Less then a hundred quid and sold as a 3 person but as usual will be a bit tight for three. It has a small porch for storage, cooking etc...I used to have one and it survived mighty monsoons in Cornwall
------------- Getting old isn't Fun but the alternative is much worse.
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
If you can possibly stretch your finances a bit more, I'd go for the Coleman Tatra 3. It's lightweight at 3.8kg (opposed to the 5.72kg of the Eurohike Avon), is semi-geodesic so is very stable (can stand alone, even before pegging).
We had its predecessor, the Phad X3. Wish we'd never parted with it...
Edited to say: you won't want to be carrying 5.72kg if backpacking, even if split between two of you.
