Hi
Just a quick question regarding a new tent, last year i bought an Outwell cloud 2 just for trips up to 3 days, first time out in the Lakes and one day it bucketed down and the tent stood up to it very well, no leaks as you would expect with a new one, a few months later i used it for one night after decamping my main tent after a 10 night trip to Cornwall in order to pack it away dry. Getting up in the morning and after a warm dry night i noticed there had been a heavy dew and there were a few drips coming through the flysheet over the porch area, looking at the tent there was quite a bit of standing water on the tent. So my question, why did it stand up so well to torrential rain but leak after heavy dew?
                     Thanks.

Did it leak or was it condensation, we each breath and sweat overnight. It's got to go somewhere. Front slope to porch likely point to condense.

Condensation will be a general covering of moisture on inside and possibly outside and there will probably be dew on the ground outside and it might not have rained.

A leak from rain will be more localised.

A warm, dry night but chilly enough in the morning for dew to form on the tent. The inside of the tent would be warm then hit by the cold dew from outside, result...condensation inside which can get quite bad at times, dripping off and looking as if the tent is leaking.

Thanks the drips were only over the porch area outside of the sleeping area, i always thought condensation was formed from your breath during the night? As there was quite an amount of standing water on top of the tent i just thought that could have contributed eventually with the weight perhaps causing the drips? Now i understand better how condensation could have formed, i discounted that because the drips were outside of the sleeping area where i thought condensation would be the problem. Thanks again.
