Having recently switched from steel tent to airbeam tent, one of things we have found when pitching the new tent is that the beams seem to "twist" a lot within their sleeves causing the tent sections to pitch at a funny angle and look very odd.

Our tent is a Vango Anantara TC 650XL, and we've mostly seen this issue on the front and back beams, which makes it a pain to try to resolve as if you deflate the beam the tent collapses. Whilst researching for possible fixes I noticed this recent blog post on the Vango site:

https://www.vango.co.uk/gb/blog/how-to-remedy-twisted-beams.html

Vango say "We have recently seen a few isolated cases..", although clearly there are more than enough "isolated cases" to warrant Vango posting about it and bringing it to everyone's attention My suspicion is that maybe it's a lot less isolated than perhaps they are suggesting.

Has anyone else had this issue with their airbeam tent? Is it something that comes back every time you pack away and re-pitch the tent or once fixed does it seem to be solved? Is this perhaps something unique to the Vango "villa construction" beams that make them more prone to twisting?

Our air tent (Kampa Studland) has shown a bit of beam twisting after 2 years of use which equates to about 8 weeks of it being pitched. I’ve only really noticed it after my last camping camping in Aug.

I was wondering about unzipping the sleeve to see if I could try untwisting so thank you for posting the link, I will give it a go when I next pitch the tent in the spring.

I should mention that it is just the back beam on ours, the rest are all fine. The back beam usually gets the worst of the weather as we pitch facing away from prevailing wind wherever possible so I’m guessing it’s why this is the one that twists a bit for us.
