For background: I’m a novice camper as an adult (went loads as a kid and loved it), single parent with two children, aged 6 and 8. Older child has additional sensory needs. I’m likely to be going camping either alone with both children, or with my mum (so need a tent to fit at least 2 single adults and 2 children).
Having looked at lots of different options I’m thinking of getting the Zenobia 8 Nightfall. While it’s an 8-berth tent for possibly as few as 3 people, I think that as my kids get older I will really be grateful for the extra space. I also like the idea of my mum and I being able to pull down the divider and have separate rooms rather than having to share. It doesn’t look too difficult to put up (both kids can help hold poles etc.).
What are people’s thoughts? I guess my main concern is - am I sensible to consider a tent of this size in my circumstances, or am I being completely over the top and ridiculous?

We had a higear Kalahari 8 for 3 of us for 5 or so years (fantastic value for money), now we have a kampa studland 8 for the three of us - with the extra extension on the end. Advantage of both designs over some other tents are options that mean your bedroom isn't directly next to your children's. Makes for better sleep and more privacy ;-)
Both tents are possible to put up on your own with some practice.
We have a Kalahari 10 for 4 of us (and sometimes 1 small dog) with a porch . We have 2 daughters, one of whom has some additional needs too. We bought bigger to give us all some extra space and the option of a small room just for her if she needs some space to herself for some quiet time .
I think you’ll appreciate the extra space if you have any wet days or any days when your little one just needs some time in the tent to chill out.
Fingers crossed the weather dries up for next week now 🤞
We have a big 7 man tent with built in porch for two adults and two children with ASC.
My kids are much older now, and I’m not sure what your child with sensory needs is like, but my ‘been there, done that’ advice would be that easy to pitch is quite important.
You think they’ll hold poles, but they get bored, or the wind flaps and they freak out, or it’s wet and they can’t deal with the texture etc etc and suddenly you’re on your own pitching a massive tent whilst simultaneously chasing children round a field! Great entertainment for neighbouring pitches, but not a relaxing start!
I’m very short, and I can’t pitch that massive tent on my own. Not a chance. But I can manage our mode size 6 man Vango Isis. Just.
I’ve never had an inflatable tent, but I wonder if that might be easier?
