I have a Robens double dreamer 5 tent.
For which I have purchased the carpet specifically for that model
The carpet comes with toggles at various points around the perimeter.
There are no attachment points on the groundsheet.
Anyone have the same tent, and do you have anywhere to attach it.
Seems strange there isn't any, did they just forget to sew them in
Any advice would be appreciated
John

It is not usual for tent carpets to be toggled inside the tent and they just lay loosely on top of the groundsheet. However, checking the video for your tent it seems the sewn in groundsheet lays flat at the doors when the doors are open. This is usually done to prevent tripping and also for wheelchair access. Is it possible the toggles on the carpet enable the edges of the carpet adjacent to the doors to be pegged down outside using tent pegs? Just a thought.

Hi Bob.
Thanks for the reply.
My openings are not flat as it's a 2021 model.
But it seems strange that there are toggles.
I was thinking of using Velcro stuck down but worried it may stick to other bits when the tent gets packed away.
Thanks again John

Hi TraceyD
Thanks for the suggestion, but as the groundsheet is down in there is nowhere to attach them
I hadn't heard of clingons before but I have a few uses for them now, so thanks once again
John

Am I right in assuming this tent has a sewn in groundsheet, and external poles?

If so, as there is nowhere to attach the carpet toggles, then I can't see how Clingons would work, as they themselves either need tying back to something, or have a peg driven straight through them into the ground...

In reality, that bottom right picture would achieve nothing, as there is nothing to stop the Clingon just moving with the carpet.

Must admit, toggles on a tent carpet is a first for me. In the 9 years I've been camping/coming on here almost daily(!), I've never seen or heard mention of such a thing before.
Most of us just keep buying lots and lots of lovely new camping gear/furniture, in the vain hope that one day, we will have enough to stop the carpet moving!

The only toggles I have seen on carpets are on breathable groundsheets used inside caravan awnings, which are like carpets but breathable and waterproof and laid directly onto the grass...hence toggles to keep the carpet secure.

I have seen people using some sort of device designed for mattresses to anchor carpets to internal air beams, for those of you with any kind of internal poles.

But in your case, John, I would be asking the retailer or manufacturer what the purpose of the toggles is. If they have left off the loops it would be good to get that sorted.
