Hello everyone!
Just come back from a week camping around Mull and Iona, with my partner and her son for the first time. She's travelled the world, I have not.
Long story short, my 8 year old Adventure Ridge 4 man tent turned out not to be waterproof in a Scottish rainstorm, and I overpacked, carrying heavy, very wet camping equipment a mile to a ferry.
Loved it.
I'm now looking to buy a new tent as the old one went in the big bins on Iona.
Requirments:
-I want something as bombproof as possible - I don't want to be wet at 3am again
-It needs to be light enough to carry and pack small enough to not take up space in the car - while i won't be backpacking up Snowdon with it, we may do another Iona so needs to be portable
It's a 4 person - currently 2 adults and 2 pre-teens
-Good ventilation but warm
-Did I mention it needs to stand up to Scottish autumnal weather???
I have had a look back at the last 4 pages of posts, and the recommendations by brand, but could do with practical experience being shared. My research keeps returning me to the MSR Elixir 4, but i'm cautious of the 1500mm HH rating, even though it should be sufficient.
Thank you!
