I doubt the 5cm height difference for the 600 would be a problem. The roof should still drop down ok at a taper, and fit as it should, with the straps.
However, I'm not so confident that the extra 75cm width for the 600 would be great! It would certainly be draughty with a 37.5cm gap each side (almost 15"), and may let some rain in at the joint lower down (but not above head height) but may still work, to a point?
Not so good with a waterproof groundsheet fitted. Maybe ok on bare grass, or even with a breathable groundsheet?
As stated before, I think the extra 15cm width of the 500DLX could be got around without too much problem, only being oversized by 15cm, which is 3" either side.
A 500DLX extension would certainly be better than a 600 extension, but I'd hesitate to say that a 600 definitely wouldn't work. It could well do. Afterall, an extension doesn't need to be skin tight.
All things considered, If I was desperate, I'd probably risk trying the 600 extension, and if it proves to be no good, sell it on again, but there's no way I would 100% recommend it on the internet!
