So I have received a new Vango tent bag on wheels because the last one split the seam on the end on the second use. I think they cut the hem too narrow and the stitches pulled through the material when pulling it by the handles out of the car! I complained to the shop, they said they would send it for repair, got a new one back. Tent been in the boot for months and we decided to sort it today.

Ruddy bag has split in a different place just trying to put it in my car after a failed attempt to put the tent away as it started raining so we've given up for today.

OK so the bag seems not to be up to the job even though it looks good. It is also seemingly impossible for mere mortals to get the tent back into it anyway.

SO what do the rest of you keep your tents in? Are there any companies that make good tent bags/boxes. It needs to be quite big (Ananatara III) but strong, wheels a bonus as the thing is HEAVY but def some good handles as its a two person carry for sure. This is definitely putting me off camping, I have a nice tent but storing it seems to be a nightmare

I don't think there is a trolley bag that can carry this weight. Would use a loose bag and trolley. Tent weighs 63 kilos

Hi, Thanks for replying.

The tent is 54kg (although I did leave a couple of sky liners in it but they are soooo light)

The link takes me to a broken page unfortunately was it for a bag, trolley or both?

I've two 5/6 berth steel poled tunnel tents, an Outwell that weighs around 20 Kg, and a High Gear that's around 49 Kg, I've also a caravan airbeam awning that's around 20Kg, the two tents are both a good few years old and well used, the awning is 3 years old and been used quite a few times, not had the slightest problem with the OEM bags they came with, all are 'oversize' bags with compression straps, no difficulty getting the tents/awning back in bag.

There is an 'art' to folding/packing and getting them back in the bag so that it doesn't strain the bag, ideally the bag should be a loose fit with a compacted tent in it. Using the original binding straps (or substitute new ones) that keep the tent tightly compressed when packed is the trick, many people discard them then try to just 'stuff' the loose tent in the bag, makes for hard work and often ends in bag failure, usually the zips!

Sorry, can't help with aftermarket bags, never yet found the need.

The bag wasn't under strain from the tent either time it tore, plenty of room and not under tension.

The vango bag is like a hard shallow box covered in material which extends much higher than the box with a large flap that zips around three sides. It seems to be a weaknesses around stitching between the hard areas and the soft areas thats the problem and where the material covers the box. I had an old Outwell tent before in a compression bag that I never had a problem with.

This one is a beast though and getting the air out of the body of the tent seems to be problematic to get it small enough, purely from the size and the weight but I dont try and put it in the bag until I know its folded small enough

Something like this perhaps?

I don't think Obelink is doing the UK now, all websites appear to be routing you to NL. Could be wrong of course.

XVI yes?

As well is two words!

Canvas Tent bags from Boutique Camping/Bell Tent Boutique or similar?
Use them for storing stuff and available in a couple of sizes?

Also Blacks of Greenock do large lace up polypropylene bags?
