Could anyone please advise what the best type of heater to buy for electric hook up pitch.
I have an Oakland xl and have just decided to use electric hook up pitches after years of roughing it.
Damned various disabilities make life interesting, but I am not ready to give up camping just yet.
So could anyone advise which heater to use on the odd cold night that we sometimes encounter.

This topic comes up regularly.
In summary, a fan is noisy (but sound sleepers don’t mind), an oil filled radiator set at your chosen temperature works well enough & is silent. But any heat just goes up & out of the tent, so a hot water bottle is a good idea too.
BTW, well done you for carrying on camping with more difficulties than most of us have to contend with.

Plus: others with the expertise will give info about ratings & amps. Just don’t use an electric heater at the same time as any other heating device (kettle, hair dryer etc) or you may trip the EHU & be really unpopular.

Small fan heater for the day and my favourite as said above, the good old hot water bottle put inside the sleeping bag 20 minutes before bedtime .

I have only used fan heaters in a tent, no more than 2kW power, thermostatic control, dual power output.

One had anti-trip function, one had oscillating function.

All with fan-only option.

Yes they are noisy, however, no more than the cool box IMHO, and I got used to it.

I can't use them on my high air bed. Will damage the airbed even on lowest setting I would think.

As has already been said, we just use a small fan heater which works perfectly, and they cost about £15.
For non-EHU, we haver a small gas heater which is brilliant (photo). It uses the same cans that the cooker uses, and at full pop you get about 2.5-3 hours out of a can, which at £1.50 each isn’t bad.

We love camping and do so every month from May to Oct, noting the average temperature per camp site. We went to Bourton on the Water last year in May and it was 4 degrees, therefore went to Kingsbridge in the south where it was warmer this year. Down south again for October. Anyway we tend to use a sleeping bag, feet in and zip up the front, very efficient and cheap. On the bed use duvet and extra sleeping bag if required. We use EHU and only tried a heater once and found it wasn't worth the effort. We are in our 70s and will tent-camp as long as hubby can lift the air tent!!
