I recently bought the a Arpenaz 4.1 fresh and black for £200 so i thought i would give a review about the tent.
The tent was used last week in the cold on a windy day.
SETUP
Despite the size the tent is a lot quicker to setup than most smaller dome tents. The poles are thicker than small dome tents and the sleeves are bigger as the poles have a gap when they are installed. all three pole push straight through with ease. The sleeves are not the whole width of the tent making install even quicker as towards the sides straps clip on instead. My small dome tent around would take 15 minutes to setup 10 of which was getting the poles through. once unrolled and unfolded you can install the rear 3 pegs install the poles and pull the tent up from the front. The bedroom and groundsheet are already clipped in so once up its ready to go. due to the size if putting it up during wind you need to weight this down and peg the back asap
BLACKOUT
Decathlon claims 99% blackout. This is achieved by the blackout bedroom and the rear tent having an extra layer to make it darker. The first morning i could see through the front of the bedroom into the living room and the bedroom was dark enough to sleep however it wasn't the pitch black i expected i was disappointed and was thinking of returning it until i opened the bedroom door and was blinded by the brightness of the living room. the exterior of the tent is mostly white and added to the second layer at the back i have no doubt this will stay cooler in the summer.
PACKSIZE
the pack is 5cm wider than my crawl in 4 man dome tent and 4kg heavier. The bag is loose fit making packing away easier. To pack it up if you stand on one side. The front end folds towards the middle sleeve then the back towards the middle then you fold it in half and roll it along it width as tight as possible. laying the bag along the tent gives you an idea how many times it must be folded before rolling
Pros
A great price for a walk in blackout tent.
Nice large living room area for gear or friends
very solid tent held up well pitched side on to wind
very easy to install the poles
spare pole section and tent repair in the bag
everything is clipped in just unroll and setup
blackout bedroom is great
groundsheet peg straps are adjustable allowing to to tighten after
rear moon window at bottom of the bedroom back to access rear strap and pull the back of the tent up for good ventilation
storage pockets throughout
oversized carry bag
pack size is good for the large tent size
top vents
CONS
Bedroom is not 99% blackout but it is dark
Bucket groundsheet is clipped in not fixed in whilst that means it could be replaced it doesn't give you a sealed tent so bugs can come in
No mesh door on the front or the bedroom which is a shame because on hot days with the rear vent up a mesh front door would give great airflow
