I've used the Search facility but can't find a thread on this, although I'm sure it's been discussed lots.

We have an Outwell Deep 5 - sloping front, no porch or door that can be poled up. We put up a windbreak for a table and gas cooker out front, which is OK in fine weather, but what can we do in rain?

Obviously we don't want to use the stove inside the tent. I had thought of getting a gazebo and using it with the windbreak, but they are banned on most sites. I had also considered looking for a cheap day tent, but again they are either banned or you often have to pay for an extra pitch.

Any ideas? Apart from not camping when it's raining - hardly practical in the UK.

I should add that we are very much budget constrained, otherwise I personally wouldn't be camping at all.

mine is a bit wider tho, and place it near the door of the tent, but easy to move around should the wind direction change and of course plenty of ventilation

Before I bought the porch for my Outwell I used an electric hob when it was too wet to cook outside.

We have always used a tarp with any of the big tents we have had. Current one is a cotton tarp for the Alaska. A search for the subject will find hundreds of topics and photos.

Tarp is fine for leaving it up with light winds and rain. However, I would advise taking it down overnight or when out and about, unless one can be certain of the weather.

Been there, done that, to learn the lesson the hard way!

A kitchen tent/utility tent would be a better solution.
