Hi - we recently bought a used Cabanon Barbados with the big awning plus also the side wings. Awesome tent but I have a few questions about pitching it correctly.

The front 2 poles that support the small porch area that's actually built into the tent - are they supposed to angle backwards towards the tent when you pitch it? They seem quite tall and I really struggle to have them perfectly vertical. It's almost like they lift the front of the tent up a bit too much if I try to get them vertical so I leave them at a bit of an angle.

Also - the awning seems to do the same thing - I need to angle the poles for that as well otherwise the bottom edges of the awning don't reach to the ground.

And - it would appear that the awning should go inside/under the porch of the tent itself because the small velcro strips suggest that to be the case but doing so makes it a bit confusing at the bottom where the awning is pegged out.. Difficult to describe but if anyone has any photos of how the awning attaches to the porch that would be useful.

Last question - there's also a cross-bar pole we have. Not the extendible one that goes horizontally inside the tent over the door but another pole that looks like it should be a cross bar and is the same width as the top of the awning/porch but I can't figure out where it's supposed to go! I'm not sure if it goes on the tent porch (I don't think it does) or if it goes at the end of the awning keeping the 2 awning poles apart (which I don't see the need for as the guy ropes create enough pull between them anyway.

Any thoughts on any of the above?

Thanks

OOoh, that sounds a puzzle: could you post some pics as that might help the description and give folks an idea to guide you.

Congrats on such a purchase, classic. The smell of cotton canvas, sigh.

Do campers 'peg it'?

well after looking at the pics of the ones on here, i see no difference in your description of yours to their tents.

you say you cant get it down to the ground, but they arent meant to touch the ground from what i can see, they are all about 3-4 inches off it, it helps with air circulation too.

take a look on here and you will see what im talking about https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/tents/p/Cabanon-Barbados/187
