Does anyone know anything about SKANDIKA tents? There are now quite a few available for sale on ebay but I'm reluctant to buy because they do not seem to be available for sale anywhere else.

Hi cybersys and welcome.. the little blue man will go away now and someone will be along soon.. I have seen at least one person on here with that tent. Have you tried a search ?
I've just purchased a tent from Ebay, but it's not a Skandika one. It's an Eiger one. I made sure that the seller was reputable and had good feedback. I paid for it via Paypal, so I should receive it in 3-4 days. I can't wait.

cybersys Watch this space and we will let u know. Going for a test drive with ours tomoro....lol
It looks ok so far, and arrived from Germany really quickly.
Right, we took the Skandika over our local grass flats and it seemed ok to us. The specifications for it were good in the ad (but I s'pose they would say that...lol)-3000mm water column outer and 5000 ground. Bit big for what we need tho....lol. Pretty easy to erect, we havent put up a tent for a while so this took about 40 mins, hopefully we will be a bit more on the ball next time.
The main test will be how it performs at the end of June when we take it away on a long w/end. If things dont work out then, then we have learned an expensive lesson and will have to get a better one.
Shame we hadn't found this site earlier, everyone is great on here and really helpful. So a big thank you guys.
Happy Camping to All

Personally, I dont think u can beat going to the shops and seeing the tents erected and buying it from there.
It was just that the cost of them was rather frightening, 'pecially as we havent been camping for many years and the kids are now in their late teens. (It might be the first and last trip....lol). We will invest in a better one a) if the one we have blows away (hope it wont b this reason)
b) if we know that we are gonna get back into the life of camping holidays.
Best Wishes

We've got a skandika tent 2 years ago, can't remember the name but it's dome and sleeps 6. We really love it, it's easy enough to put up, lots of space inside and no damage despite both UK & European use.
We are a family of 4 so use the 3rd pod for storage. It has enough room for all of us to sit inside when the weather is not so good.
last year we decided to get a bigger tent for our long holidays ( my OH had problems putting his trousers on in our Kyham sherpa 3) After some research and the fact that a friend has one we ordered a Skandika Milano 6. Although we have only put it up in the garden it seemed well made. we are going away in may and will write a review after.
