Hi all,

After a rather windy trip, I ended up with poles snapping. After searching, I have been unable to find replacement poles. Does anyone know where you can get them from, ideally a complete set.

Thanks
Simon

Hi I'm also having the same problem from that lovely windy weather last week. I called go outdoors customer service who couldn't help/give me dimensions, maybe in store would be better?

Would anyone with a functional Hampton 4 tent be kind enough to give the pole measurements maybe?

Can't you just measure the diameter and length of the broken sections?
There should be no need to replace the entire pole as replacement sections are available from most decent camping shops.

Poles are normally one of a range of STANDARD diameters, and only the overall length is particular to a given tent.

Now I assume you've both binned the broken poles before measuring! If you haven't, check the dimensions (diameter and length), buy replacements from Ebay, camping outlets or the usual 'go to' pole supplier 'Tent Spares' (https://www.tentspares.co.uk/), usually slightly longer than needed, then with a fine toothed hacksaw, cut to required length.

You don't have to replace the whole pole, only the actual broken sections need replacement.

Hi, thanks for the advice! You'd be almost correct with the binning before measuring. Some parts I had to bin as they'd completely snapped and splintered into many parts, and the majority of the other sections were at least split/bent, too, so I couldn't get an accurate measurement for any of the full poles.

I can get the diameter from one of the few non-broken sections, but I would need to know the proper lengths to replace the broken sections myself. Is it worth me continuing to search, or are the pole dimensions not usually given by the manufacturer?

i would suggest you go back into go outdoors and speak to an older more clued up person say over 40 years old, and not the new school leaver who joined last week. try asking for the manager, they do have access to the info, its a case of getting their attn, maybe asking once the schools have gone back and the shop is quieter would get some answers?

I took an actual damaged section to Go Outdoors to compare with what they had. Note: the side poles are different diameters to the top cross poles, they are thinner. If you have a Winfield's near you they do pole repairs. I had one done recently and it was £5. This included the pole section and the fitting. yes, they take it apart and replace the section them put it all back together. Takes about 15 minutes. Go Outdoors do not have this service.

I wonder why these pole sections keep splitting. They seem not fit for purpose. They split under tension, not necessarily due to heavy wind.
