i have a campus tent and over the last week it took quite a battering, but i ddn't think it would stand up to the high winds and so took it down and stayed the remaining nights in my friends frame tent. this was fine, and we decided to buy a frame tent, we visitied our nearest stockist and was told that they no longer sell frame tents and that they are being replaced by a new steel tent i am not sure of its name but its really expensive, the one we looked at was £1300. it has steel poles and a canvaess similar to the frame tent but is shaped and has a sewen in section like a dome, the best of both worlds !!!!
please can anyone advise on these new tents? (i think it was made by cabonan)

Foxy - I think that who ever you spoke to was giving you the sales patter - their are still plenty of frame tents around - at a far lower price than £1,300. In one of our local camping shops they have the Kos 6, which we have for around the £400 mark.
yep tend to agree with Moonseeker we bought a sunncamp Grange tent last September which is their flagship tent and is still being sold. It is a really big tent see pics and cost £579. I believe you can get it cheaper now if you search the net

we bought a Sunncamp Cottage 6, it's slightly smaller than the Grange, but a great frame tent and spent around £400 for it. I wouldn't be without a frame tent. Sunncamp don't seem to have their own website, but you can search for the tents on google.
It sounds like a Cabanon Biscaya Foxy. I have the Cancun which is virtually identical but without the zip in groundsheet - was worried any damage to zips or groundsheet would be too expensive.
It's a great tent and I really like it, but I did get it at a very good price, £1300 for the Biscaya is rather on the steep side considering the amount of space it offers I feel.

Hi Foxy..........are you sure about the Frame Tent?? I'm looking at the Vango Aspen 700. Has sewn in Grounsheet, steel poles & fibre poles (is called frame tent although I think it's a dome), has bags of space, the bedrooms have lots of headroom. There is an Aspen 500 on display at Outdoor World in Bootle which will give you an idea of the tent, you just need to imagine a bigger version.
I searched around for the Biscaya 500 but very few retailers are stocking it due to the price. The cheapest I saw it was at Caseys Leisure in Chester - £1127 plus £80+ for the extra sun canopy. I would recommend you got the canopy if you do decide to go for the Biscaya. I got one for the Cancun and it makes a big difference to the space available.
