just getting into the great outdoors, just convinced wife no life threatening bugs in uk and that it hardly ever rains! Need a large tent for work ( outside catering ) and the usual family hols. Hartford xl is my favorite and best price is £239. Is it a sound choice and is that a good price thanks.

My old Outwell Hartford L used to take around 40 minutes (after practise) so I think on average you'd be looking at around 45 minutes fully pegged out.

Haven't owned one to destruction yet but Outwell tents (as well as many others) have a UV protective coating. As with anything else it depends on how long it's in the open, the weather that it's subjected to.........and how you look after it.
Check out Outwells website which details all of the materials, protection etc used on their tents + aftercare......... http://www.outwell.dk/uk/

It is a bit big just for an over-nighter. I would get something else (in addition to) to do an over night, somehting you can whip up and down easy. overnight, you do not need the large living area.
On a diferent note: I do not own one, but have been looking at getting something similar - however, personally I find the bedroom sizes (hight and LxW) a little small. However, like the sleeping areas not being next to each other (as in the tunnels) and the light living space.

Got hartford xl today. Up in around half hour, pegged out in another 10mins or so. Couldn't beleive it! Last dome took at least 2 hrs the first time we tried.
Only just seen this but friends of ours bought this tent last year. The first trip out it was very wobbly, the second trip out it died. 4 poles broke in the bad weather and sections ripped. Luckily she took it back and got her money back and bought a Vango Colorado DLX 600. It seemed that because the main dome poles don't go all the way over the top it loses stability (I called caled it a spacious blacmange and was proved right)
Gigi, Are you sure the wobbly ternt was a Hartford xl?
The main poles DO go all the way over the tent, and we bought our XL because it was so stable. Weve never had any problem with wind. In fact at the tent show where we first saw our XL, it was on of the few tents the organisers left up in severe wind!
Ive NEVER heard of problems with the Hartford IN windy conditions.
We bought our Hartford Xl at the end of last year, and have used it a few times this year. A great tent, real easy to put up, spacious. We love it. And we have camped in some torrential downpours with thunder and high winds and the tent held up perfectly and we all stayed dry.
Don't what tent you are talking about but our Hartford XL has been a real winner - no hassle in some amazing storms last year - we had the bad luck with the weather but not the tent. We also have a new Sun Valley 8 - quicker to pitch and with even more room inside.
