HI folks,

Tintenter here, but want a new tent for use on the continent.

Is there anybody out there who has purchased a Quecha Tent from Decathlon UK (Our nearest store is Nottinham)

These tents are manufactured in China and look good value for money, but are they really up to the job?

We saw the tents on display in France a couple of weeks ago.  They looked ok and the 2 second erection one was particularly fascinating!!  My partner has a frisbee that works in the same way, it literally just pops open when you take it out of the bag!

We bought a Quechua tent from Decathlon last year. I found the tent generally good but with a few design problems (some of which have been sorted on the new models) The poles went rusty on mine within a week and even though they were replaced they still were faulty so I eventually returned the tent for a refund. Also, the huge front door had no points along its length to peg it down, so in windy conditions air/rain would blow under the door - all it needed was a pegging point adding! (this has been added to the new model) In general I think they are pretty good tents but after my experience I have opted for a Vango Diablo 900 instead.

We've got two 2 second tents - stood up to a really bad rain and thunder storm in May.  Only design flaw is lack of a porch!

I got a 2 second tent at the weekend Fran, went to Stockport for it,  great shop Decathlon, never seen one before.  You said you were going to rig up some sort of awning to protect the inside of tent when opening door when raining and then post some pics.  Would give me some ideas if you do as I have two weeks  to sort something out before I go to Cornwall with my son and familly. Maybe I could go inside awning if it rained with the tent but knowing my sons familly it could get a bit crowded as they are not the tidiest of people.  PamJ

We were gonig to get one of the big decathlon tents, but they were doing the vango venture 500 for £55, so we got that instead.

Decathlon is an excellent shop for all kinds of sports. I buy most of my cycling gear from them.
