OK - I think I've narrowed it down to these 2.........

We are a family of 4 with dogs of varying numbers ( we foster dogs !! ) and we are looking to buy a new tent.  At the moment we have a cheapo Eurohike one so we could test the camping bug - it bit - and we need to upgrade.

How on earth do you decide ?
Hubby will have a hissy fit if I chose the wrong one and want another in 12 months time - in which case I may as well swop the hubby !!

I really don't know what I am to look for - how to make my mind up...

Please , please can someone help before I just go for the 'prettiest colour' !!   

We also liked both of these tents but decided on the diablo instead of the Aspen as the bedroom arrangements suited us better.  We also liked the large porch area which is great for storing all the cooking bits in & shoe's etc.  That said i loved the Aspen & the fact you could open the 3 doors so it felt really airy, we do find our Diablo gets really warm inside even with the doors open.

The only other thing i've thought of to consider is the weight, our diablo is very heavy (i can't carry it) & apparently the aspen is even heavier!

Also just though the porch of diablo would be ideal for the dogs to sleep in as it has a removeable ground sheet.

Well you've already narrowed it down to either the Diablo or Aspen but not sure if you're comparing the Diablo 900 against the Aspen 700????, if you are then personally I'd prefer the Aspen 700 just 'cause I like the look and feel of it inside.

Its always tricky getting that final decision. One thing I can't remember about the Aspen is does it have mesh doors? Iknow the Diablo does, and that was a clincher for me when weighing up Vango Viasta versus Vango Quest last year - love fresh air, hate flies!!

TO be honest, apart from some of the practical points made above ( like pack size and weight, layout etc) in the end its a personal choice - one may just appeal to you more than the other.

And if you do end up changing your mind next year, maybe you can part exchange the hubby for the new tent before he gets hissy??

Sorry Pete - yes it was the Diablo 900 versus the Aspen 700.

Anyone had any niggles / technical problems with either of these two ?

Being the proud new owners of the Aspen 700 we'd say that's your best option as the space and headroom inside, we've found, is second to none. It does have the fly screens on all windows and doors too which means the difference beween going home covered in gnat bites at the end of the week or not!! The position of the windows and doors also gives a fantastic panoramic view from the tent - ideal for keeping an eye on tiny people or dogs!

As for the weight issue, we had 2 (relatively small) ladies put the Aspen up with no real problems at all...(although we are comparing the weight to a Sunncamp Chateau SE 6!).

To be fair though, you probably won't go wrong with either tent - they are both Vango after all!
