Well it depends what you're looking for from a tent Bec.

The Montana is easy to pitch all in one against the classic dome of the Wynnster.

The price may also sway you as the Montana is around the £300 mark but the Wynnster can be had for £194 (http://www.venturesport.co.uk/venturesport_product.asp?parseid=2336)

Assume you've looked on line and compared the specs but it would be even better to try and see both of them in the flesh if possible to compare.

Pete.

Monty, Monty Monty!  WE have the 6 and really loved it when in France this summer.  You can stand up all over it, loads of space inside, and lots of windows with mozzy nets to keep the ventilation going.  We can't fault it.

Hi Bec

We have the Wynnster Mercury 9 and I've cut and pasted below a fairly recent reply I made to an enquiry about this tent (you will find the whole thread if you put in Wynnster Mercury and opt for Tent Talk in the category section, in the search box).  Here it is:

"ADVANTAGES:  Masses of central room for rainy days play and eating inside.  Light and spacious feel to the tent.  Large entrances both back and front, which on warm sunny days makes the tent really airy.  Stood up to high winds and torrential rain this year and last.  Quality manufacture.  Huge porch area.  No inner in face syndrome as sleep at right angles to the door.  One side is sectioned 2 & 3 with a dividing curtain, so the three means plenty of space for the double bed.

DISADVANTAGES:  No sewn-in groundsheet.  We don't mind this as you have an exact footprint groundsheet for the whole tent and there are storm flaps you can peg down if it is windy.  We like being able to easily walk in and out of the tent all the time rather then stepping over the a bath tub g/sheet (it's a personal thing with us campers!).  The slope of the porch door is a bit awkward when raining (can't really explain what I mean and is only a minor niggle !)

If we had the choice again this year, we would still opt for this tent as haven't seen anything to beat it yet in the price range, £219 from Allweathers.  (Just might be tempted by a Montana 8 if they made one...........!!)"

It's interesting that you have come to a choice between the 2, bearing in mind my last comment !  If you can see the 2 up at the same place you'll know which one feels right for you.  I think to be honest it will come down to whether you want a sewn-in g/sheet and price.  We are looking for a one-nighter tent at the moment in addition to the Mercury 9, as the Mercury is not a quick enough erect for this. In fact we are trying to find out how long the Montana 6 takes to put up, as if it come down in price it is a definite contender.

By the way we are 2A , 3 large children plus dog.  Hope this helps.  Feel free to ask any questions however trivial !

LIZ
