I wish I could pitch a 4-berth De Waard on my own, however, it looks like it would be too heavy/difficult to pitch single-handedly. Therefore, I shall admire them from afar in my Hypercamp Escala 4 instead.

Every De Waard can be pitched by one person. It is not that difficult. Even better.... it is easy... OK I admit you must know how to do it but it is no rocket science. Most faults happen with second hand buyers that don't have a clue how to start.
I am a little guy... and I can pitch a Albatros, Lepelaar, etc by myself. And it normally takes me around 15-20 minutes (just the tent, no extras).

Well on a holiday you don't have to rush... But if it takes you 20 minutes to take the tent out of the car I can imagine it takes you a little longer to pitch your Lepelaar ;-)
Some need a hour or even more. But that is just not fair. Well maybe including all extras like wings and the varioluifel etc. Don't forget most of the time is used to put all your stuff inside the tent.

Hi DK
Rolph is right, you can pitch one on your own, no problems. There are a few more pegs to hammer in though......
I am likely to stick with my Escala 4 until it is time to switch to a trailer tent in a few years time.
Can't see myself investing on a De Waard in the foreseeable future when my tenting days are limited.
However, in 5+ years' time, if I am still in good health and am still able to put a heavy tent up on my own, then I may pop over to Holland and check out what De Waard can offer.

Although our Lepolar takes a bit of time to pitch we have no intention of giving it up. It is like a second home. Last summer we pitched for a week in Pembrokeshire, went home for a week to sort out our allotment, leaving our Lepolar pitched and then went back to find the tent just as we had left it and already set up to enjoy another week, that was really nice. Mind you I had modified the opening to the tent with heavy duty velcro sewn on the varioluifel so that the front entrance can be sealed completely. I might tell De Waard how to make that improvement if they ask me nicely. If we are touring and pitching for just three or four nights we take a smaller tent. We have not yet put a limit on our camping days even though my husband is 78 next month and I will be 64.
