We think De Waard are brilliant, quality is the best, they're quite expensive, but they last and hold their value.  Have a look at another thread running at the moment "Those Dutch Tents".

De Waard is the orgininal. Randstad is a copy. Their are little differences in quality in favour of De Waard. And the prices are almost the same. I will always advise a De Waard!!

Allready looked at www.dewaardforum.nl ???

Randstad is not really a copy. As far as I know it is a matter of two sons inheriting the tent-company of their father and getting into a dispute. That's also why the law suit of De waard towards Randstad did not succeed.
It not a copy matter, they were equally entiteled to the model and both went their way with it.
Hence the differences in detail. These are not a difference in quality, but in concept-detail. Which in my particular case clearly favours Randstad (Length to sleep due to shape of groundsheet, width of sleeping rooms, depth of the canopy part making a seaprate canopy superfluous, just as heavy but finer structured fabric).
The ventilation above the doors is handier at De Waard again.

No UK dealer for De Waard, don't know about Ranstad, but I doubt it.

When we bought our De Waard we telephoned the company in Holland to order it and choose the colours, they make it to order, and then had a long weekend in Holland when we went to collect it.

Hi Roy

When we went to get our new De Waard tent, we told them when we were going.  We thought it would just be a case of picking it up, but they had it all laid out for us and showed us how to erect it properly and pack it away properly, giving advice on it's care.

Plus they have a great accessories side to the store and loads of their tents displayed. We got our sleeping bags there as well, plus lots of other bits and pieces. It was well worth the trip to Holland.
