Just received insurance payout for our ripped hartford XL tent. although we love the hartford, we are thinking of buying a vango diablo 900 instead just because of the larger porch. anyone got any comments on which is the better tent?

I you like the layout of the Hartford XXL and just want something a little big bigger ( Bigger porch and bigger bedrooms etc ) then take a look at the Sunncamp Marathon. There are some very good deals on the few remaining. We replaced our Hartford XXL with a Marathon and it is identical in layout and uses the same method for erecting etc but just a little bit bigger in all respects. We also found it a bit more stable as it has thicker poles. In-fact,some people might say that Sunncamp copied the XXL when they designed it. We can fit a whole camp kitchen in the porch with room to spare. When we took some friends away, we had the camp kitchen and a Lulu toilet tent with toilet in the porch all at the same time and there was still room to walk in an out. The tent is also a bit taller, I can stand up in any part of the Marathon but I had to slope downwards in some parts of the XXL.

Our outwell winfield is a 5 person dome and has loads of room in the living area - enough for a table four chairs and 2 dogs at least lol!!!!! Was ur insurance on ur household or did u take out seperate ins???? We dont have either of ours insured
100acrewood - I claimed on our annual travel insurance policy BUT (here's a word of warning to others thinking of buying travel insurance) - by law, they can claim part of payout from your household contents insurance or any other insurances you may have that cover items away from home!!! how annoying is that! so obviously your premium will go up the following year on your household insurance. makes you wonder if taking travel insurance out is worth the cost, dont you think?

I am definitely going to investigate insurance for all our kit this year. I have got away with it for over 3 years now but no doubt one day something WILL happen. Over this time we have accumulated so much stuff of which some is hard to get and expensive. We have been out in some very tough weather but have been really lucky so far with nothing damaged, lost or stolen. I just feel that I am pushing my luck now. The ones I have seen don't seem very expensive. A rough quote I got was about £60 per year to insure everything we have on a new for old basis. Its one of those things that I keep puting off and shouldn't.
We have a Vango Colarado 600 and have been very pleased with it! It's been a great buy.
It was also fairly cheap.
The back up from Vango has been exceptional - I set fire to the groundsheet with small stove! (My girlfriend didn't see the funny side!) and Vango sent us a new groundsheet!
