That festiva tent is a similar design to my wynnster, has an extra front porch, excellent design, loads of room and easy to put up for 2 adults.

handsy - looks like you gto the tent question sorted out thanks to Maria P. Just wanted to say a big welcome, you will never be short of advice (or a laugh) on here.

On the subject of camping equipment i would advise you not to go too mad with purchases straight away. Certainly you are going to need something to sleep on, so airbeds or roll up mats are needed, but for bedding you can taking quilts etc from home rather than immediatelysplash out on sleeping bags. Similarly, a good cooker is a good idea, but you can take pots, pans, plates etc from home or get bargain picnic gear from places like Poundstretcher. Lighting and something to sit on are the only other esentials. Keep an eye on these boards cos there are lots of eagle eyed bargain hunters who regularly post on here.

One final thought, its a good idea to have few short weekend breaks away with your tent etc just to have some trial runs, in spring next year, rather than just plan one big hol. Even if you have camped in the past you need to try it out as a family, and your little uns may need a bit of time to adjust to a very different way of holiday life. Stay local so that you can run back home for stuff you have forgotten, or need to buy, and its not too far to go home if the weather does you no favours. A few trial runs will also help you to decide what equipment you really do need and what may be unecessary clutter.

Wishing you lots of happy camping!

Hello  handsy, We were new to camping in 2005 having bought vango mavric in sales, looked big in shop but not enough room when we had bad weather, and we only had bad weather! what everybody says is so true, pound shops are essential for picking up bits and pieces, cheap knives and forks, plastic cups and plates etc.have fun camping is fantastic, and addictive we are now buying bigger tent and planning 2006 holidays.  Tip if you have airbeds, put blanket or papers under the airbed to stop cold coming through, it really makes a big difference.  Disposable BBq are fantastic, no cleaning pans
