Unfortunatley last year we had to miss out on camping due to the arrival of our little boy but this year he will be 1 yr old and I'm planning a new tent already while, the sales are on.  I need some advise, please.  There's me, my other half, our 8yr old daughter, our 7yr old son and the not so new little rascal.  We need a tent where we can all sleep together at the moment but ideally later can sleep individually.  Also with good head room and plenty of living space.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi McNab,

Sorry to steal your thread, but I notice from your website that you visited the Gower.

I would go for a "tunnel" format if I were you. Get one with a sizable bedroom. Tons out there

MattyG - Bank Farm - Gower is a lovely area.  The camp site was high up with a steep walk to the beach our children did moan about the climb back from the beach.  Basic site, clean, very big, outdoor swimming pool, cooked food good.  There are other sites not so high up, try looking at Port Enyon.

Thank you for your comments, we have a tunnel tent at the moment but because it was our fist tent and we didn't know whether the children would like it we bought it cheap off Ebay.  It's a continental no name one which did us proud, it just doesn't like our windy weather and we ended up adding extra ropes all over for extra security.  Hence our tent is now totally ruined.  I do agree there is loads of room, we have been spoilt and hope to find a similar one with a name.

Hi :-)

We have 3 children and have bought a Wynnster Anglesey Excel, purely because it had a load of headroom, a massive living area and one huge bedroom that will fit 3 double airbeds in, but that can later be sectioned off as the kids get bigger. Normally nearly £400, got it from allweathers for £200. Has a fully sewn in groundsheet as I don't like draughts LOL.

This is it:

Exessexmum - Have you had your tent long? It's just that the pictures they show never do the tents justice it's always best to see them erected.

Hi All,
Just got our new tent for 2006, Decided on the Wynnster Grouse 12. It's a big tunnel tent with provision for 3 bedrooms, although we only need to put up one. I can recomend this tent for some one with a familly who want loads of living space. It scores hands down over the Diablo type tents as the communial area is massive in compararson. Also only having 4 poles and pitching fly sheet first it beats the diablo for pitching time too!
Got ours from Allweathers also. A bargain at £175 inc delivery.

Happy new year and happy camping Frank & Kathy

Have you been to see this tent erected - I was wondering about stability with 4 poles and no supporting poles for strength I wonder whether it will hold up to our winds.  Also does it have a trim around the bottom, to keep out draughts.  Oh and the ground sheet does it cover the area if you don't put up both bedrooms?  It's always difficult when all you have is pictures, they don't do some of these tents justic.

Yes we have seen this tent errected at our local camp shop. That,s why we bought it. And yes the ground sheet does cover the whole footprint of the tent. The flaps on the bottom edge do peg down, but as you know you need some ventilation under the sides to prevent condensation.
Draughts shouldn't be a problem as the bedrooms have their own SIG.
As far as stability goes that can not be answered realy, all depends on circumstances etc. All we know is that Wynster are a reputable make so should be up to the job. Also tunnel tents are more stable than domes in high winds.
Happy Camping Frank & Kathy.

Thank You Frank & Kathy - After I'd posted I remembered that way back in the summer I had some info on Wynster and Vango tents so I fished it out and it looks like we ma be opting for the Grouse 12, hopefully they have still got them in stock as they are a bargain.
