We think we want to buy a Vango Aspen, have looked and looked and think we have settled on this one. BUT... we can't decide whether to go for the 500 or the 500dlx which has a porch. We are upsizing significantly from a Wild Country Monsoon so are a bit phased by the very size of these tents and think the 500 might be easier to pitch and fit in to sites.

Any views from Aspen owners?

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the site!!!

Personally i dont like the new DLX version because for me the only reason i can see for having such a huge ugly porch is to cook in ,right ? And there is no way I would would want to cook in my Aspen even if it was in the porch  ,fat spills ,fumes and risk or fire are all too great a risk for me so we chose to buy a seperate cheap utility tent to cook in ,and I dont really care if that gets wrecked .So to me the porch is just an ugly unnessesary blot on an otherwise lovely tent !

Hi and thanks for your welcome.

My thoughts almost exactly! It ruins the look of the thing and it is a thing of beauty!

Can you tell me about your Aspen - which do you have and how long does it take you to put it up? And have you ever had any difficulty fitting it onto a pitch?

thanks.

Hi Again we have the Aspen 700 and bloody gorgeous she is too !! only we have not had chance to go away in it yet ,though we have test pitched it and played camping ( see my gallery )

Were not too worried about fitting the Aspen and the utility tent onto a pitch because we dont tend to camp at sites that have strict pitches .If you are going to get an Aspen see here for sites that dont care how big your tent is ,and here for more info on the mighty Aspen
