at Spencer - yes I have some delta pegs on order. After seeing the mess at the Ripley exhibition on Saturday, I wonder why Yeoman's don't invest in them too!
I'm looking at the Excelsior because of the extra headroom and slightly smaller footprint.
at newbs - thanks again for the pointers. Sounds like we'll be able to manage with the half size Halfords box then.
My last worry is how we dry the thing when it gets wet, especially as the poles are all attached. We won't have enough room to put the whole outfit up in our garden to dry - but hopefully you don't have to fully extend it to allow the air to get the fabric? Our "garden" is a very odd shape and it's a squeeze to get even a 3m square gazebo in there!
My wife is a little tempted by the Montana 12, but I'm still being swung by the sheer flexibility of the Ridgi-pod, especially now it's available at bargain prices.

Well, the deliberation is over and the deed is done. Flexibility and bedroom layout were the crucial factors.
The Outwells came very close, but it would have meant needing a huge pitch for every outing - including visits to friends' back gardens.
The OH didn't want the kids sleeping next to us, so the Indianas etc were out. The 4+2 arrangement on the Montana 12 would have meant endless arguments about who got the bigger room. The Nebraska XXL failed on the lack of bedroom headroom (no better than the Aztec), and the XL failed on bedroom width.
So the winner is Mr. Aspinall's offer of a brand new Ridgi-pod Excelsior + 3 pods for £400.
Now I just need to try and arrange some time off work to try it out. I'll try and remember to post some notes once it's had its first outing.
Thank you all very much for your patience and advice - this is a grand forum and you really are a cracking community. Enjoy your tent, whatever it is!
Had a look at the Outwell Nebraska today and it looks great. We are returning to camping after a long break and need some advice - we started looking at the Montana range but prefer the Nebraska - I love the space but is it too big for most pitches - please help us out as we're on the verge of buying one!
7.8m is pushing it a bit once you add room for guys, but reading in here most people seem to manage OK. Just mention it when you book so you get a suitable pitch. There is a thread in these forums that lists sites happy to accept large tents which might be of use. I guess I'm going to have the same trouble with the Ridgipod but at least I can change the shape of that to fit the pitch!

The best deal on a rigipod yet.
Welcome to the world of the pod people.
The concept and flexibility win through again.
Welcome to Khyampers Corner

Thanks. Let's hope the OH doesn't hate it once she sees it for real!
Aspinalls had just had a fresh delivery of Ridgi-pods when I ordered so I guess that if you want one, now's the time to dive in. Pretty much works out on a par with the Outwells, once you add groundsheet, tent tidys, porch inner, screen canopy, maxi-vent etc. (Well I had to have some extras before supplies dried up!)

Welcome to the club Skinflint. I'm also glad to see that Ster took the plunge too. Once you've got used to it you can pitch in no time at all. Dont forget to mark the two front poles near to the centre hub to indicate the front porch. It saves doing a twirl to get yourself facing the right way.
