Hi doonhamer & welcome to the best camping forum on the www

Sorry I can't help with your tent query either, but I'm sure someone who owns a Wynnster Pegasus will be along sometime soon.

hi,

will be watching for replies to your question as I am thinking of buying the pegasus 6. The large living area looks good in the adverts I've seen, but not too sure on bedroom sizes (especially the smaller of the two) I've got two growing boys aged 12 and 8 who want to sleep in their "own room"!! Whats the 5 version like??

Hi

I haven't got the Pegusus 6 as thats this years model but have the Venus 5 which is almost the same tent but yours has more screen doors and the canopy, we've had ours for about 3 years and its been great, the living area is a really good size, can get table 4 chairs, cooker, fridge, pantry in no problem, it has good ventilation if its hot ( ha ha ) with the 3 doors and two opening port holes. Had four people sleeping in there last year  when we were at the Leeds festival when my son and his friends had to abandon there tents and thats as well as our table and chairs, cooker ect.

The bedroom in ours is one large room with a dividing curtain, me and OH have it as one big room if on our own, or when my son comes with us he has the small room and there's not much room left over in there for all his stuff wouldn't fancy 2 children having to share unless there small, my sons 14. I think the Pegusus has seperate bedrooms but would think they where about the same size in the 5 version. if you have two children Id definatly go for the 6 version.

Its very easy to put up, takes about 20min to be all peg out, theres an extra pole in the Pegusus for the canopy, so probable another 5 min for that, its big enough for 2 weeks away but quick enought to put up for weekends as well.

Trouble is now ive seen the Pegusus, I really want the canopy and extra mesh doors but carn't convice Oh we need a new tent as there nothing wronge with ours.

Hope this helps

Hi doonhamer, welcome to UKCS. I hope you like your tent - I saw one a couple of weeks ago, also today in the camping shop whilst we were stocking up for Easter and it's a great tent. We will be trying our Anglesey at Easter which is pretty similar, just SIG instead so good luck and I look forward to your verdict!

Pegasus 7 was a recent purchase as we wanted space to spread out and watch the rain. Verdict so far - very spacious but takes c. 30 mins to erect with just 2 of us. We like the features such as 2 bedroom pods ( we only tend to put the larger one up and use other side for storage), height, versatility of openings

BUT         this does not appear to be a tent for windy conditions. It bends with the wind to the extent of being almost horizontal, which has been disconcerting at times. Yes you can pitch with the back to the prevailing wind but what do you do when the wind directions change ? this is not a tent you want to take down and re-erect every five minutes.

We have just got back to-day from week-end with pegasus 5 - 3rd time we've had it out we've found that it really helps to put up the living pod first and not put all the poles in first (as the instructions suggest) as this makes it really heavy to manage.

Just thinking about your problem with windy conditions we have also had to put tent up in windy conditions but have not had any real problems guess this could be due to ours being smaller ? but what we have noticed is that when it is windy it is best to use one of the smaller side doors rather that opening the front seems to cut down on the 'parachute effect'!

Another thing we have discovered is that the guy ropes can get really tangled up so we now make sur we tie them all up before putting the tent away.

In general we are really happy with the tent very spacious and also lets in lots of light. and plenty options with doors etc

Just spent 3 nights in our new Pegasus 6 and are really pleased with it. Huge living area is fantastic. We managed to pitch it with its back into the wind and were able to sit in the porch with the big front door wide open even in the rain. Thinking about getting some high visibility guy ropes to replace the ones that hold the porch canopy out though!
