thanks Amanda, yes, we like that one too, but it's a bit more expensive!
The problem for us is being in London we can't find anywhere to go and have a look at these tents, we have to go on recommendation and pictures!
Whaetever you do make sure you see both tents pitched before making up your mind. The moment we saw the hartford XXL we knew it had everything we were looking for and was the tent for us.

Normally that's exactly what I'd do for a big purchase like this, but I'm in the middle of London, not a camping warehouse to be seen! Any pointers to ones NE of London gratefully received.

Not sure where in London you are, but if you are anywhere near East London there is a massive camping display in Romford.
Fantastic, thanks that's not so far from 'ackney!

Indeed it isn't. Lovely place, Hackney ;-) PJ Camping is the place you want, its advertised on here, their display is in Collier Row, just off the A12.
just used my hartford xl this weekend for first time. Three tents on our field were either washed out or blown down, but ours didnt move. we were really impressed with it. We are going to order the porch tho for future outings, not because of lack of space, because it was huge, just for cooking in bad weather etc.

Sadly PJs don't have the Vango, they say they just think the Outwell is a better tent. I guess it may well be with the porch, but that porch ain't cheap! I do like the idea of having a transition area between the outside world of mud and rain and the inside world of dryness and warmth.
